Nicolas Sarkozy........

Good riddance to Sarkozy, but Fillon can hardly be called a moderate.

He has the most neo-con economic policy of the candidates, and 'voted against same-sex marriage when it was introduced by the Socialist

president François Hollande, and had the support of the traditional

Catholic right. Claiming to stand for Christian family values, he has

campaigned against medically assisted procreation for single women or

lesbian couple'

His economic programme means he is seen as a 'French Thatcher', and if he is up against Le Pen in the final round she is likely to get the votes of many of the people who would previously voted for the left, in a repetition of the pro-Brexit and Pro-Trump voting patten.

So, yet again, the pollsers got it wrong.

Next Sunday's run off will field a more clear cut decision making process of Fillon v Juppe for the Republican voter.

However, there is a possibility, the Socialists could busy themselves with some tactical voting by paying their €2 and swearing allegiance to the Republican party.

Don't forget then, don't read the polls.

About the voting process itself, I have come across a question that, as yet, I have not found out the answer.

I understand that if you have paid your 2 euros you voted yesterday in the first round and are also able to vote in the second.

BUT, if you didn't do that yesterday, can you pay your 2 euros and vote next Sunday (for the first time)?

In Béziers there were both FN and Socialist supporters voting.

It was open to all sort of tactical voting ..

There was another thread about who could vote in which I expressed the opinion that as our carte électorale clearly states on the front that we can only vote in municipale and European elections we might well be refused the right to vote if we arrived and presented it.

It would be interesting to hear if anyone did manage to vote.

Gluestick, you can't go around saying things like that infront of all these pinko liberals. You'll get yourself banned. Then what will we do?

Er.............I didn't mean "you" as in one of us, I mean can a properly registered French person, who didn't vote last week, cast a vote this coming Sunday, on payment of the 2 euros and after swearing allegiance to republican values?

Does anyone know?  I am curious, that's all, I don't mean to present myself at our foyer and be laughed out of town.
