My mother got married in India in 1972 ( relegious marriage). Now the french dont accept that marriage as it was not transcripted. Can some one have give idea how to legalise the wedding. I have got wedding invitation, photos, letter of the priest who conducted the wedding.  In India it is not necessary to register the wedding esp. in those days no one registered . As the wedding happened in 1972 how to legalise the marriage and therefore the legitimation of my birth will be accepted. My mother is French, she has french passport

Apart from my French research I specialise in records from India 1600-date - long story, family thing - but if the marriage was in a church and not civil, you should be able to get information on it - pm me and I'll see what I can do to help.

If the marriage was Hindu/Muslim etc, you have little chance as there is no civil registration as we would know it in India but there may be a record in the parchment roll of the Temple at which the ceremony was held.

If your Mum is a French citizen and has French passport, don't see what the problem may be.
