'I saw the canadair planes flie over to to help'

Many years ago we were sat on the beach in (guess where) OK....LGM and 5 canadair planes flew in to scoop up water from the sea to fight some fire..... I guess. Or maybe they were just practising. Not to far from beach itself to be honest.

It was spectacular to watch thease pilots doing their stuff. That is one scary job.

It carried on for a few hours. They came back and forth.

Very impressive.

As far as I know from various comments at church this morning, the fire was under control, but was still smouldering and breaking out .. wind still strong .. some had good views from their various terraces, I'd say it is 30 mins driving from here.  Wind now dropped so I suspect it will be sorted soon, and yes, hubby heard the Canadairs .. I was busy with earphones singing in my virtual choir.

In Palma, Mallorca, they used to pick up water just outside the harbour, flying down the line of Avenue Argentina and crossing the sea front road between the tallest buildings, just above treetop height.

Quite scary if you happened to be approaching the junction at the time.

Even more so than the approach over Kowloon to the old Hong Kong airport.
