Sunday lunch meet, NOT itchy feet tour (II)

Only problem with eating outdoors is what if the weather is mauvais?

We will need a Plan B if we choose Pot Lunch.

Hell, for roast meats, I'll even go back to Chateau 17, light up the Godin, bank up the wood logs and produce tender roast meats.  But, no damn good if it's going to be raining and, anyway, by the river is a no-no if really hot because it will be horrible there with the hoi-polloi and their animals, husbands (no, I didn't group them together) and kids.

BTW, I have been very quiet because I have managed to nearly mangle the third finger if my right hand in a heavy sliding glass door.  OK, it might not seem like much of a deal being unable to type o, l, full stop and > but, if you are used to touch typing, you'd be surprised at all the mistakes you can make with just the one finger out of action.

If I say Good Moaning like the policeman in 'allo, 'allo, it's not because I can't say bonjour properly, it's because I am all fingers and thumbs!

The park by the river isn't always that busy and there are plenty of trees for shade, some of them might have tables under them but I will need to pop over to check that one.  I have a trestle table we could use also but the chairs might look a bit odd, dining room chairs in a field!

Numbers would be good to ascertain, if it's wet we could retreat to our dining room but it's not huge so not a good option if there are 20 people.

I have made my mind up, if it's a pot jobbie I am doing curry, nothing to hot and certainly not very French but I am dam good at them so there.  It will be made vegetarian but I will make some chicken you could add your selves if you want.

This is getting exciting!

I've got the chutney to go with your paté.

I've read your book Geronimo and can't wait to see if you still possess the skills to move like the wind.

See here.

I'll do you a swop. If you can teach me to ride bareback I'll show you how to play the guitar.

This is sounding very tempting...

Particularly as, all being well, towards the end of the preceding  week we are supposed to be making our way down to Carcassonne with creaking camping car( and camping table and folding chairs) arriving in Carcassonne Monday/ Tuesday. Would there be room for two well-behaved (reasonably) campers??  I think there is a site quite near for over-nighting.. Our dates not absolutely finalised but it's looking very likely.

AND we have quite a stock of poppadums........and home made chutnies.

Early warning Sweets- I would be hoping that you would please bring pics from last year....

Weedon, I'm flattered to think that you thought I might be responsible for such an opus, but no, my modest literary efforts were the result of my pilgrimage with Sweets  to St. Jacques http://doulezon.over-blog.com/article-l-de-jennifer-sur-la-route-de-saint-jacques-de-compostellee-journal-58271428.html. If you read it you will probably only be the 2nd person to do so, Doulezon being rather an insignificant little village. As for the guitar lessons.... a voir[:D]

Crossy, the five kilos of pâté are in 350g pots!

It's great to relax in a restaurant and simply choose from menu with no preparation or clearing up afterwards isn't it? but it's not your own space so there will be a time to go rather earlier than the socialising has finished, perhaps the most relaxing bit on Coops meet for me was just relaxing after the meal courtesy of hospitality at Rose's cantina and the afternoon slipped by.

Equally on an Summer Sunday what a shame it would be not to enjoy a picnic by the river, probably not too much faffing and able to kick back as long as you like.

I'm quite happy with either and happy to book when numbers and choice of venue are fixed (see Aubeterre in first post), equally happy to bring a lemon chicken and salad and some pears poached in red wine for Crossy's icecream, to relax down by the river.
A picnic or a restaurant - either would be lovely.  It's the people that I am coming to see not the grub ...
If it's a picnic, I could bring a trestle table so that we could bring and share.
As Cathy says the meet up is about the people of course, so which is it to be? post your choice
Re your second picture, John, you're not expecting anyone to take their clothes off, are you[:-))]
I am. I intend a curry so hot you will have to strip off to cool down[B]

We do need to start putting names down.

Ian (Crossy67) & Julie (Mrs C)

John (just John but confusingly he will be with Val [8-)])

Who else?  I realize it might be early days but time flies and it would be good to get some ideas of numbers to start planning (by planning I mean mention in passing to the woman from the shop next door in the hope she tells the restaurateur over the road so he can book us in lol).  I promise not to pull the fingernails of drop outs, honest[6]

Well if the mood takes them, . . .  but I can't promise Manet will be there to paint the scene again![:)]

I really like the idea of a bring and share picnic, even if it is raining.  I have an easy-to-erect canopy that is fun to shelter under.  Also, with a picnic, you don't need to know exact numbers.

Whenever I have organised shared picnics or suppers, I have always let people bring whatever they want - it is fun to see what turns up and it doesn't matter if there are too many chocolate cakes [:D].

This is getting exciting.  I don't mind arriving early to help set things up.

Well how would you like to accept an appointment as the official plate and chocolate cake co-ordinator?[I]

Accepted with alacrity.  But it needs to have capital letters because it is, to paraphrase Winnie, a Very Important Position.

Ah, so there is advantage in being a two fingered typist - you do not use your third finger.

When you have the date for the 2012 bash let me know. Can't make this years but next year we will be retired and plan without having to fit work in.
