Removals - who to avoid or go with?

We are moving to the Auvergne in early April and are casting around for removals quotes.

We would be grateful for names of people/firms to go with, or those to avoid.  Euro-Movers on the face of it seems to be best , but has anyone any good or bad experience to share?

Please be sure to reply by PM if naming bad names!

Many thanks, Sam

We used a company called Steeles, from Barrow in Furness, on two occasions.  They travel to France all the time and were very competitively priced for a half load, which on one occasion they picked up from Portsmouth. Very good service, pleasant staff, collected and delivered on time and to the price we had previously agreed.[:D][:D]

We  used ******, and weren't very happy with them.  As someone said earlier they are franchises, so will obviously vary.  However one of the reasons we chose them was that in their contract they promised not to sub-contract the removals - but we subsequently found out that this didn't apply to other ****** franchises....... with the result that our stuff was moved from one ******* warehouse to another before coming out to us, and apparently included a long period sitting in one of their yards in the rain - so we had some soggy stuff and, I have to say, a fair bit of damage from it having been moved around so much.

We used Brittania - the Exeter branch - and can't speak too highly of them. Short notice move; same driver picked up from Devon and delivered to Charente Maritime after a month's storage.

He hit a 'jour ferries' which he didn't expect which was due the day after delivering to us. He and his mate adapted to it and accepted it with great versatility and humour. We managed a day's unloading in three hours, fed and watered them and got them to a convenient parking place in a town with some facilities in the nick of time...

Highly recommended for personal touch and adaptability.
