chris pp Posted October 22, 2005 Share Posted October 22, 2005 Hi everyone,This afternoon I had the good fortune to go on a little field trip with a small group of people, mostly Brits, with our resident expert from Vienne Nature. We happen to live in an area which is very important for the re establishment of Otters, with the Charente river and several tributaries of the Vienne river passing close by. The purpose of the trip was to learn more about the indices of an otter’s presence to enable us to report back any signs of their presence in the future.The really good news was that after about an hour and a half we found an otter’s spraint on a large rock under a bridge, you can imagine the huge smiles all round. jamesg Posted October 22, 2005 Share Posted October 22, 2005 About 3 weeks ago we stayed on a campsite on the bank of the Seine at Pont de l'Arche just south of Rouen and there were otters swimming in the river just by our pitch.There seemed to be a family of them. chris pp Posted October 23, 2005 Author Share Posted October 23, 2005 Lucky you James, you probably saw a female with her young - otters it seems are a lot harder to physically see in France than in the UK being more fearful.
