We have a lot of hedgehogs in our garden and love to sit and listen to them rustling through the leaves in the evening. The other night our youngest asked what a baby hedgehog was called, we looked at each other and went through kitten, pup etc and today I remembered and did a search on Jeeves.........he came up with hoglet........is this right? and the next one is, what are the babies called in french as when I did a transtation it came up with bebe de errison(sp)

So baby hedgehog please in french and English.

Salut Opas,  Most people use the word hoglet in the UK or baby hedgehog, it doesn't really matter, and as far as I know in France it is simply petit herrison or bebe herrison.

It's somewhat surprising that as they used to be eaten in the UK, that the French seem to have missed a culinary opportunity.
