Mistery fruit?

I wonder if anyone can identify this fruit? It was a large, wide rather than tall tree, growing in the gaurigue amongst the vine fields not far from home. The leaves don't look like fruit tree jobbies. The fruit tastes slightly sweet but slightly dry too. Although that was only tasted from a tiny part[:-))] Still very hard and not ripe yet.

The ruler is a proper one, in inches[:D]

Edit: Books can still beat the net! Maybe one day we'll be able to search using images.

Certainly can!  There's a brilliant App for Android phones that will scan an image (or picture) using the inbuilt camera then search for a matching image.  How cool is that?

Also, scan a bar-code and it will tell you all the product details and the prices/stockist of that product in the local area.

[quote user="Jonzjob"]It's a not very good photo of a statue of a boy with someone flying a kite in the back ground and someone climing on the statue[:-))]

It's a scan of a slide taken over 40 years ago somewhere in Spain, so I know what it is.

The question was where is it?

Try retracing your trip in your mind.

I am sure that will help you remember where it is.

We made the trip by road between northern England and Algeria several times in 1968 and 69, always in a hurry.

Including the ferries it used to take 6 days of hard driving on bad roads, alternating drivers, with little time to admire the scenery, or even remember the names of all the places.

I can remember stopping by the statue more than once so the kids could climb up to it, but locating the place among the hundreds of places we tore through is beyond the ability of my memory.

It is one of a few mystery photos taken on various trips which was wrongly marked at the time.

Now I know where it is! Identified it through a Spanish forum, and went there a couple of years ago to take some new pics. It is now a well known site, with large car park and visitor centre etc.

Near Pancorbo, País Vasco, on the north side of N1 just north of the town.

It was erected by "The Western Ranges Asssociation" in the USA, in thanks to the N Spanish shepherds who worked in the USA.
