If you were told on an invite (one involving maybe a few dozen people) that you will be served "vin ordinaire pour le chabrol et vin de pécision", what would you expect to be given to drink?

The main dish will be some sort of game.

Thank you.

Chabrol or 'de faire chabrol' is when some wine is poured into the soup bowl, swilled around and then drunk. They do it all the time here and although I don't know it's origins, but my late compagnon did it all the time as did most of his friends and family. As for vin de pecision, well, I haven't got a clue.  Enjoy the evening Sweets!

Keys in the fruit bowl?

John

Musical chairs, perhaps, John?

Gem, yes, I remember you doing it with Jacques on the Compostelle [:)]

I suppose vin de precision could mean a specially picked wine for the dish.

Sweets was that keys in the bowl and musical chairs with Jacques or  just the wine in the soup??? The mind boggles! [8-|]

Surely it wasn't St Jacques himself!
