CHEATING WITH THE COMPUTER!

I do not approve of cheating generally, but you can have some fun and create quite good effects twiddling with your mouse.  This picture is a composite of three different photos, cunningly(?) superinposed to make a finished product. Has anyone any similar? to add to this thread?

Hi Gus,

You cant have everything! So I have managed to bend the sun around 180 degrees! But it would really take an expert with photographic knowledge to spot it! (Um . . . .like your goodself!)

Actually it can easily be done if you can aquire Adobe Photoshop 4. It is very versatile and you can hours of fun processing your photos and it does'nt take long to master it.  Watch this space and I will add another pic soon!

PS. Nice web site and lovely property!

One I posted ages ago.  I was pi ssed off I didn't have a decent sunset shot over our village for the sunset thread.  The sunset is actually over the Pacific, the village was shot at midday.  I had to lower mid- and high-tones, add false shadows to the straw bales, houses etc.  Took about 5 minutes - I know it could be better.

I just use the freeware that came with the camera for editing.  It seems to do everything that the bought items do - cloning, blending, layering, fading, mashing, etc. plus dozens of one-click effects, distorts, etc. It's Arcsoft PhotoImpression, I think you can also buy it.  It has more options than I have any need for.

A house in Grande Rue, centre of Alençon, before and after.  Spot the differences. [:)]

There are 7 alterations. [;-)]

Anything I've done is possible in most of the image editing software you see mentioned.  The software I use came free with my first digital camera.  Most of the software packages have exactly the same features like colour pick, colour fill, cloning, smudging, etc.  They're pretty cool tools, aren't they?

The most useful one is probably cloning, where you pick a spot on the image and replicate it and its surroundings elsewhere with a wave of the cursor over the area you want to alter - hence you can superimpose matching stonework on a bin bag, put perfectly matching patches of sky over telegraph poles, replace bollards with cobbles, and so on.

Here's another pair of the Notre Dame church at Alençon.  Bollards and street lights - begone!

The sunflowers were there when photographed them, (except the middle one!) but the butterflies were added later.

Some very good examples from everybody. I'm glad I started this theme. Keep 'em coming!

Lautrec, wow that is incredible!

Cassis, really beautiful again. I didn't get any software with my computer. [:(]  With my previous one I did, will have to see if I can do similar with the Picasso photo program I use. I don't think I will be able to do what Lautrec has done though no matter what I use!

I know nothing of Alencon, it looks really beautiful. On our return to the UK over New Year we were very near, we spent New Years eve in Saumur which is beautiful and explored the area a little and went to Angers. Will have to make a point in visiting Alencon, it looks lovely. [:)]
