Alec Elliott Posted August 14, 2006 Share Posted August 14, 2006 Ok I have heard that as a photographer who specialises in taking scenic and landscapes shots, that I wish to frame and sell via a market stall that I can register as an artist or something and pay little or no cotisations. This normally means having recognised qualifications at degree level from an art college, or proving that you have performed as an "artist" for a large number of years and having your work judged by a panel of experts.This is not easy to achieve, and most end up registering a micro enterprise.There are, as you mention, enormous benefits to being registered as an artist in France, with 600€ a month in Prime available to help support yourself.Chris Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

chris pp Posted August 15, 2006 Share Posted August 15, 2006 I'll try to speak to someone who I know who is a painter and sculptor and has managed to register, he did have help from an association in his commune which has regular exhibitions, but I also know another painter that found it impossible, blocked at every turn. He paints commission pieces but also country scenes that he then has transformed into greetings cards which he sells to his established outlets in the UK. He does not have an art degree, or any college diplomas, and has been able to register at the Maison des Artists (based in Paris I think?). les Favets Posted October 6, 2006 Share Posted October 6, 2006 Good evening Chris, I noted that you end your messages with the information ( Working for wildlife & birds in France ) You may be interested to learn thta for the past 4 years usually at the begining of October we have an Ospray visiting our lake for 2 to 3 days. This year we had one for the first time in April and then again last week . They are amazing to watch as they hover over our lake and then seem to tuck their wings in and drop like a stone into the water.
