Belgian Chocolates

Could anyone tell me where I am likely to get hold of some Belgian chocolates?  Our lovely octogenarian neighbour is in hospital having had an operation on her knee today.  We will be going to visit her and as I know she loves Belgian chocolates I would like to take her a box.  I have tried Leclerc, Carrfour and Super U  with no success.
pushkin - why are you writing in purple?
Because it is my personal preference and is my right to post in that colour if I want to.  (I have always posted in purple).  I also do all my personal e-mails in that colour as well.  It is considered a 'healing' colour among other things and so many people I know need that.

I hope this explains your query satisfactorily.  Anyway, this thread is about Belgian Chocolates not about my personal preferences!

I found some in our local Casino earlier this year; though I think availability might depend on the time of year ie more around at Christmas etc.

That's a really nice thought for your neighbour. They sell them all year in our local Champion and I think they are their own brand. Have also seen them in the run up to Christmas in Lidl and Leader Price. Christmas chocs will probably start appearing after Halloween.

Thank you everyone for your help, assistance and kind remarks.  It is quite obvious that they are obtainable in my part of the world.  I am going to start the hunt in Saintes and, if no joy, will follow all other suggestions.  The lady is worth all the trouble.  Such a wonderful character.  An ex farmers wife with a fund of stories about how things were in her day.  I will let you know if I am successful.

Forgot I wrote this the other night!

Wasn't meant to be aggressive. Genuine question sent under ale. Actually your posts do have a visually soothing aspect to them now I come to think.[:)] Sorry if I sent the thread off route.

No apology needed raindog but thank you all the same.  I am sorry if my response came across a bit on the sharp side!  I was obviously having one of those days.  You know, multi tasking I think it is called these days or as I knew it, meeting yourself coming back!!

The good news is that I have the Belgian chocolates.  A flyer came round today (with a load of other bumf) from Le Mutant.  They have 600g boxes of Belgian chocolates for €7.99 or thereabouts which is amazing value.  They are beautifully gift wrapped as well.  We bought two boxes, one for Madam and the other so we could test them to make sure they were alright![:$]  (Well that's my story and I am sticking to it).

I work for a major distributor of Leonidas and can thoroughly say they are one of the best products, my waistline has got bigger since I started with them some six years ago now. They may be expensive to buy,but they are quality as against cheaper brands.

Ah Leonidas.    I used to live in Belgium, and they were regarded as rather 'cheap and nasty' by some locals.   But to me they were the best ever, and the bonus of being cheaper than most !!   I am not a huge chocolate fan, but those, oh, brings out all the girlie bits in me thats for sure.   Has to be the fresh cream ones from the fridge section though.    Not sure how you would arrange to buy those on line.   I had a look at the Leonadis site, as mentioned in this post, and Val I am assuming these are not the fresh cream ones are they ?

Please tell me they are not, otherwise I shall have to set up a standing order for them to be delivered !!!

Pads.

Thank you for that lovely message.

We visited her today in La Rochelle, Clinique Atlantic I think it is called.  Madam was absolutely thrilled with the chocolates and I had a hug and four kisses!  She is a wonderful lady.  She had her knee cap replaced as there was no cartilage left as I understand it and she is walking already.  Unfortunately she had other visitors so no story telling.  There will be time enough when she returns home.  The hospital was really impressive, spotlessly clean and Madam said she couldn't fault the doctors and nurses or the care and attention she is getting.  Her room was very pleasant and the staff certainly looked as smart as paint.

Pads, I wouldn't even attempt to try and explain a forum to her!  She is still trying to get her head round the fact that I took some photos of her great grandson with my digital camera, disappeared for five minutes then handed her the printouts for her to keep!
