washbasin tap

Have been looking for taps on-line and am stupefied by the choice...............aarrrggghhh, I hate too much choice.

However, although the taps come with all the flexible hoses and fittings, I don't see any plugs.

I have been looking for robinet and mitigeur but I don't know what plugs are called!  In particular, I am looking for a plug that you move up and down with a lever.

Chance, Teapot, I bet you, amongst many others would know?

Buy a mitigeur with the lever at the back, most have them, they will say avec manette they will usually then come with the corresponding bonde so there is nothing else to buy, I'm assuming that you already have un siphon.

been doing one today on a temporary kitchen, had to dig through all my boxes of second hand and unsused bits to find all that I wanted.

If you havn't already bought your sink some of them come with a remote operated plug, you turn a round stainless knob, I think they are the slickest, also try to get one with a basket strainer plug to catch all the bits of rice and veg etc.

For a washbasin????????

A kitchen sink maybe, but unless you are used to throwing up in the bathroom basin, straining the bits of rice and veg seems a bit unusual.

Further clarification, please.

Does manette refer just to the lever type tap or does it include a "pop-up waste"?  See, I've remembered what the English is for that plug that you can move with a little lever at the tap[:D]

Is there a separate word or phrase for "pop-up waste", svp?

Edit:  sorry, Chance, you did mention bonde.  Is bonde any old plug or one that would be remotely controlled?

Manette is the control knob/handle and can also refer to the small handle or lever which operates the pop-up waste.

A Robinet is a single (hot or cold) tap

A Mélangeur is a mixer with separate handles for hot and cold.

A Mitigeur is a lever type mixer with one control, usually a lever.

The Bonde is the waste outlet, the fixed part plus the plug. You have to supply the drain and trap (Siphon) separately.

I've never seen a washbasin with a 100mm diameter outlet.

Surely that must be the length?

I think the one with provision for a "too full" [:D] would be more correct for most traditional handbasins

And the clic-clac (push-push) version also avoids the annoying linkage of a pop-up

YES, Chance, I have read about these bondes clic-clac!

I didn't pay any attention because, for me, clic-clacs inevitably refer to those beds you put your guests in if you want to discourage them from ever staying chez vous again[6]

Not fair!  I did look at your link but I thought that, for 20 euros, I'd get the tap as well?[:-))]

Sorry, I wasn't referring to you, but to people who repeat information already posted because they haven't bothered to follow the discussion, and can't resist getting their 2 cents worth in [:D]
