Rose and hydrangea cuttings

As Oiseau and I get the house sorted in the Vendee (only a few more days) I have been steadily taking rose and hydrangea cuttings, mainly O's favourites.

Thus far, a good degree of success with most budding up at least and some now young plants. However they are all in pots waiting to be assessed in the spring and either given to those who want them or planted in O's garden and here at Aix.

I don't yet have a greenhouse but am saving the widower's mite to acquire one. In the meantime, what should I do with plants in pots ('in waiting', so to speak) over the winter)? Put in sheltered spot, put pots into the ground or what?

Any ideas welcome, please.
