Kitty
How does everyone get duvets into the covers, when doing it solo? That is my most DREADED task.
Clair
It helps if both the duvet and the cover are flat on the bed. I grab each top corner of the duvet in each hand, insert both hands inside the cover pulling the duvet inside, aiming for the same corners then slide the cover down the duvet. With French-made covers, which have a narrower opening, it's a definite pain in the bum, particularly when doing a super-large cover (6' bed...) YCCMB
That's why I like Ikea's duvet covers. Most (not all) of them have a small hole in the top corner (the seam is undone about 5cm) so you can stuff your duvet inside and then grab the corners from the outside and shake the duvet into the cover. BTW, I loved this handy hint on the link provided in the OP:http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-secure-sheets-to-the-bed-with-porn-stars-260099/
Cerise
Pierre - you are not the only one - the dreaded Marie (the cleaning woman not the Town Hall[:)]) had a screeching fit one day because Madame (me) had folded a sheet inside out. Shall I tell you the worse? Not only did I not know but I didn't care either. The secret is to have all white stuff that looks the same anyway up, then like me you can carry on in blissful ignorance. cowoman
my husband turns the cover inside out. Then he grabs hold of the corners and does something else (at this point I have usually made an excuse to get away ,like I'll put the kettle on) I then come back and the quilt cover is on and the quilt and cover are being hung down to the floor with him standing on the bed holding it high and it hanging low (the cover that is)
mint
Cowoman, conjures up the funniest picture for me. Can you persuade him to let you take a photo so that we could all learn how to do it properly?[:)]
cowoman
I think its best all round if we never find out...let him keep his secret to himself.......I never want to find out, I just keep telling him how clever he is!!!!!
cowoman
I think this is what he does but he shakes it down standing on the bed (the secret is out)http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-put-on-a-duvet-cover
WJT
I have tried it that way and it is never that easy for me. I think she used a single sized duvet, I would like to see her do it with a king size.[:)] I love it in the beginning how she says two items needed: one duvet and one clean duvet cover.[:D]Cowoman, I love your new avatar, it makes me smile every time I see it. mint
So, Cowoman, we can add one little coda to the advice on folding and keeping bedlinen. Fold duvet covers inside out!Come to think of it, that's the trick, isn't it? Strip dirty cover and leave inside out for washing. After washing and drying, fold still inside out and keep until next use when you do as the woman does on your video.Advantage too is that all those fluffy bits that gather inside the corners will now get washed out. Nice!

f1steveuk
I didn't watch the video, nor did I read all the posts, it's an entire thread about folding towels!!! Why, I made a sort of multi size wine rack, and I roll the towels, not much folding required!
Kitty
F1 Steve - You have no idea the importance of folding towels until you have been in the hospitality business.
cowoman
If I was the owner of a multi size wine rack for towels. It wouldn't be long before each towel was put somewhere that I couldn't find and a bottle of nicely placed plonk would appear instead.Just by telling us that you have a multi size wine rack means you are taking part in this thread on folding towels...you just roll yours.......I bet there are people out there that will say ooh i hate that. Lachouette
How does everyone get duvets into the covers, when doing it solo? That is my most DREADED task.
I find that using a couple of DIY spring clamps - you know the sort ofthing...just like a very strong 3" clothes peg, on the far cornersholds the duvet in place in the cover while I manoeuvre the restinside. This resists shaking and won't come off, even on a largeFrench quilt. My biggest worry is then leaving the clamps there!Jan
jimbob
Many years ago I worked in Marks and Spencer, I was tought how to fold towels there, I have folded them at home like this ever since, my family think I am mad but I just think they look neat and tidyNina
