Hi all

Could anyone help us we have obtained required planning permission and will be starting to

build our own house on our own land next to our exsisting house.  I read somewhere that if

we sell it we would have taxes to pay! does anyone know what these would be?

As we will eventually be moving into the house when finished would the same taxes apply?

Any info much appreciated

If it is your main residence, and you have been tax resident in France, there would be no Capital Gains Tax to pay. However if you sell within five years of completeion , you would have to pay VAT (19.6%) on any increase in  the value (Selling Price less the Artisans Invoices for the cost of construction )
