Zodiac Indigo Robot Problem

I have a friend and neighbour who has a Zodiac Indigo Robotic pool cleaner, I have the same model but a different name (Voyager x2)

My friend's machine stooped working, so he took it to the local pool shop (without the control box), they said they would have a look, but if too complicated they would have to send it back to the manufacturer.

They phoned him this morning to say that the repair was going to cost 900 euros plus tax, the machine only cost 1300 euros 3 years ago.

I do not know what he problem is, but 900 euros seems very steep.

Has anyone else had a simlar problem.

Or/and can anyone recommend an independent specialist repairer my friend could try.

Many thanks.

Until we know what the problem is, we only know that 900 euros is the problem.

Start googling!

Buy a replacement motor from the U.S. and have it shipped over.

The motors are the same as it is the power supply that reduces to voltage down to safe levels.

Bon courage

Sounds like good advice - before you do that however, get the unit back as you have to figure out why the motor got wet. It is entirely possible that a seal failed in which case you can replace that fairly easily I imagine but if the motor casing has cracked or distorted then it is unlikely that you will be able to make a long term fix to that - I am not familiar with the specific model so you will have to examine it carefully.

Both my friend and I have started googling and have found it impossible to source a new motor. However we both found a US site that was selling the complete pool cleaner new at $899 which at current exchange rates is a lot less that the 1300 to 1500 euros they cost over here. But that is yet another debate which has been gone into at depth on this forum.

Interestingly though my friend contacted them, but they said  that currently they could not supply zodiac indigos as they had all been withdrawn by the manufacturers due to an inherent fault in them!!!!!!!
