londoneye Posted August 19, 2010 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Hi everyoneSeems like this is the year when our pool plays up.We have waterair pool and sand filter.When we have finished vaccuming the pool, recently, little splodges of sand are deposited out of vaccum onto bottom of pool.I have just telephoned waterair and as far as I understand (my french is not 100%), this means that there is a problem with the sand filter, probably a fitting which stops the sand going back into the pool has broken.Question: is there anyone in area of 87500 who could come out and have a look at this for us (obviously a pool specialist rather than just anyone who wants to look !).Waterair cannot get a technician here for two weeks and it seems to be fairly pricey to fix.If anyone knows of anyone please pm me with your details and a phone number and I will call you.Many thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

londoneye Posted August 20, 2010 Author Share Posted August 20, 2010 Bugsy - our pool also - just spent nearly two hours cleaning it up - we get it every year for a couple of days but this was the worst yet - expect them again tonight cos normally its for 2/3 nights.I am about to search to see if there is something I can buy to get rid of them before they all come out again this evening ! I think the worst of them is over now ... can't even see where they are coming from even tho I got sun-burn standing staring at the pool for 2 hours to see if they popped out from somewhere - which they did as soon as I turned my back!No-one knows of a pool technician then ???!! I am not a pool technician but a retired engineer with a long experiance with pools and filters, if it suits I can come over and look and perhaps advise. september would be the best time when we can open the sand filter and see what's what. If one of the laterals at the bottom of the filter has somehow been damaged then that is where your sand will appear from. If I didn't know you so well I would think that you were being rude?[8-)]You are right about not being able to get to the laterels without removing the sand because that is what they are buried in. If the sand has to come out it's an easy job to do just using your hand. I have done it a couple of times now and I reckon it's quicker and cheaper to do that that than to faf with any kind of sand vac.
