Cassis
Oh dear - the usual rabid, jealousy-ridden JV audience has suddenly come out in force.
Glyn
Well done to all those who spoke on the show. After listening to all the ignorant, bitter and twisted responses I now know why left the UK[;-)]
YCCMB
OTOH, Glyn, perhaps some of the people who replied in such an ignorant, bitter and twisted fashion have been reading comments made by people living in France about the UK and have hence developed a disinclination to support them?[;-)]
ams
Congratulations to all the contributors, we thought they were fantastic and really professional. What a pity that a number of idiots were allowed to promote their bigotory and low level of intelligence. ams
Cat
As Cassis said, a lot of the green-eyed monster coming through in the responses, "abandoning the country" and "crawling back" indeed! I expect they picture us all sitting by the pool sipping gin and tonic all day long [6]
Maricopa
Unfortunately, none of those that responded after the interviews seemed to understand the points that we knew the rules before we came to France, and that they are being applied retrospectively. And NONE of them got the message that it isn't FREE.[:@]
ebaynut
WELL DONE! [:D]Also to Dorothy & Pat! Strange though that he couldn't find some more positive emails in response, I sent TWO![:@] Julia
Busy Bee
Well done everyone - why does everyone think we are upset about loosing 'free' healthcare. I am not early retired but have not returned to work after having my second child - I currently have my own CV having worked here for years, but, it will expire - will I then be classed as 'inactive' and ineligible after paying in to the french sytem for many years! And how smug are those living in the failing British system, for which they pay very little![:@]
LisaJ
Especially the bit about going abroad for better weather - they should see Basse Normandie today. Do you think they had actually heard what Deb and the others had said? Or were they just too stupid to understand it?Lisa
chouan
Félicitations !!Good job ladies. Do his listeners understand the concept of ' listening ' ?Clearly many of his respondents hadn't listened to what had been said andwent off on a rant against ex-pat entitlement to ' free ' (ugh!) health care in France.Maybe they're just as empty-headed as the vacuous caller from the Pyrénées.Well done, a noble effort and good luck henceforth.chouan
cooperlola
Thanks for all your kind comments. I suspect that a lot of the responses were sorted through before the show went out as they all appeared totally ignorant of all the facts in evidence! Still, who listens to this kind of programme anyway? Let's hope some other members of the press and a few politicians who get what we are really saying. Cassis
GOD - THIS IS SLOW TO POST TODAY - THIS WAS IN RESPONSE TO BETTYIn the end, everyone's entitled to their point of view, of course, and the reaction was hardly a surprise. The follow up article about lesbian parents and AI is carrying on in the usual liberal tone.Well done again.
Cat
Off topic but, yes, the follow up article on lesbian parents showed the same level of bigotry in some of the comments. I especially like the "but who will teach the child how to wire a plug". What??? Well done Deb!

Thibault
I listened to the show and tried to "pretend" I knew nothing of the details or backgrounds. I think I can understand why some of the respondents got hold of the wrong end of the stick. It is a very complicated matter, extremely difficult to put across in a relatively limited phone call - congratulations to all who tried. [:)]I think, too, that some of the listeners may have had in the back of their minds the responses of the people living in France on the programme from Paris. The majority of them painted such a rosy picture of life in France that it is not surprising that people assume that they were all sitting in the sunshine round their pools sipping wine and enjoying French food. [:D]That image didn't chime with the worries about the changes to the health care system. On a lighter note, it was good to hear the voices of people I have only read on the forums.Sort of brought 'em to life, really [;-)]
Joshua
Well-done Deb’sWe are all proud of youCall me Machiavellian, but I found the emails too one sidedand a bit too convenient!Maybe the someone who selected the emails is a bit P*****d off with having to revisit thetopicI’ve never heard that sentiment expressed from anyone backhome in such a venomous way Joshua[:D]
Russethouse
I telephoned during the show, and a weary sounding bod answered and 'noted' it - nothing mentioned though.......I'm still confused as to why the e109 woman was on the show - it was a red herring.....imho
