Carte Vitale - What next?

Recommended Posts

Our E106 expires in January, we have been told that the CMU want a letter from the UK extending it or explaining why they won't extend it.  The UK are sending the letter of refusal, where does that leave us?

We have our own gardening business but we are still quite new and are not yet doing very many hours work a week.  Does anyone know what our next step should be?  Complete private health cover is ridiculously expensive.

You have two choices well three actually, although you might not like the third one,

 1) Register your business and pay your health care charges that way; 2) Get a private health care insurance, or 3) go back to the UK.

Unless either of you will be getting an  E121 soon AFAIK  the first two are your only current options if you want to stay in France legally.

If you have already started your business, then that has already rendered your E106 invalid, so you should have registered the business. But registering a business gives you access to the French health system. If you can use the micro-social regime, that will benefit you through being able to pay charges and taxes according to your actual income, otherwise you will be hit for very high charges in the initial couple of years.
