My wife and I hope to retire to France within 12 months.

I cannot get an S1 form ( to join the French Health Service) as I do not have the relevant U.K  Nat. Insurance "stamps" for the qualifying years.

I have read, on the French-Property. com website, that  one can be granted cover on a spouse`s S1 as a "dependent younger spouse". My wife  does have the relevant "stamps"

However , I am older than my wife!

Previously, on various websites/ forums, I have NOT seen the word "younger "

Can anyone please  tell me what the situation really is ?

Age differentials are generally not relevant however I think F-P.com have made mention of it for completeness because in certain circumstances, i.e. death of the E106 or E121 holder, entitlement could be lost by a younger, pre UK retirement age survivor, but would then be picked up again under the 'accident of live' provisions.

You must specify your spouse when you apply for your E106 or E121

Yet another example of the crass stupidity and potential for confusion of calling both the E106 and E121 S1. Yes we know they perform the same function at the end of the day but the circumstances for their issue and their duration mean that they remain two entirely separate things...............!
