Tax implications when renting out property in France

Can anyone possibly advise me on what the tax implications are in France when renting out a house (long term rental) We have been trying to sell our house in the Vendee with no success and are now thinking about renting it out.

Any information gratefully received.

For many years we declared the rental income on french houses in France, this gave us access to the low interest loans available and offsetting costs incurred. It was easier for us though, as my wife is French and we used my MiL's company accountant. Now, I've been seconded here, we declare it on the normal annual tax declaration.
