Long term rental sought Ariege or Aude

Recommended Posts

We're planning to move to France in the Autumn, renting before we buy.

We're looking for a minimum of 3-bed house with garden, which is dog and child-friendly. Looking primarily for a furnish gite initially, then moving on to an unfurnished let.

If anyone has anything to offer, please get in touch.

Thanks very much.

There are a couple of agencies which might help

for example

There is also Century 21

If you want to avoid agencies you could try leboncoin, although a lot of the adverts at the moment are for seasonal lettings:

or there are a couple of Facebook groups

When we moved over, almost 12 years ago now!!! we got our long rental through an immobilier in Carcassonne. I think that you will find that most of them have long lets on their books?

The norm is 3 years. We managed to get ours for 2 years, but there is a let out where when we found our house, after 5 months, we were able to give 3 months notice to leave there. That was ideal, because the normal time it took to buy from signing to moving in was 3 months. I don't know if that has changed, but I'm sure that somebody on here will be able to say??? (OPPS, sorry!! Too many [:-))]??? ))) [Www]

A normal letting is for 3 years with options for another 3,  then another 3, (9 in total) but this concerns the landlord, and creates security for the tenant.

The tenant can give 3 months notice at any time, so effectively  you are only committed to stay for a few months.

On the other hand most house lets are unfurnished, so it's a lot of bother to move in for a short period.
