Low cost cell/mobile phone providers?

Recommended Posts

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

We are moving to France in August, and I'm trying to find out now what are the possible "pay as you go" cell phone (mobile phone) providers that provide very low-cost services.

I already have an unlocked phone, so I do not want a long-term contract, etc...

I already know about the big 3 (sfr, orange, boyouge), but what are the "pay as you go" alternatives?

I am just looking for low cost voice and sms/text service only. I don't really even care about data plans.

The only one I could find was www.simyo.fr.

Any others?

Thanks!

Not sure on that statement, got a flyer from Tesco's the other day for their PAYG sim, on their website they state a chargeable call has to made within 80 days or they will disconnect your sim card. Ok it was the UK site but I have never seen France having better phone offers. UK website info below. Bottom of page item 3 I believe.

Yeah, OK you are right - you have to make a call of a couple of seconds once every 80 days to keep the SIM active. We have been through this before http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/2399062/ShowPost.aspx if you want to read through it all. Still the best PAYG deal going I think.
