Peach, a little Treasure

Recommended Posts

This pretty little thing, found and unclaimed, is now ready and waiting for a really good home.  He is so sweet, sharp and alert, one of those little dogs you can teach tricks, to dance, whatever, he's just asking for it, a little boy full of love and fun.  He always wants to be by you, always watching what you do, ready to join in, a real joy and wonderful company for anyone.

Peach is now neutered, tattooed and vaccinated with passport.  The vet thinks he's just about twelve months old.  Go on, spoil yourself and make him happy after a very sad start.

The pearls are a symbol.  Little Peach can now be pampered after what he has been through.

One evening someone called me saying there were three little dogs huddled under a car parked outside their lotissement.  He was very concerned about them, but didn't know what to do.  He said there were three females, Peach plus two others, sort of Basset/Dachshund type, all very sweet.  It was most strange for three to be lost and stay together like that.

Something had to be done about them and he agreed to bring them to us the next day and I asked him to feed them to make sure they stayed there.  But next morning someone else had called the mairie and the garde champêtre had been and taken them away.  So I called the mairie in question who said they would put ads in the papers and if not claimed or adopted they would be put down.  Not wanting this to happen I asked them to let me know if no better solution was found.  After a couple of weeks noone had shown any interest in these three little dogs and they were going to be taken to the vet.

So I went to fetch them.  They were at the station d'épuration outside the town in a very small "kennel" under the hedge, with just a tiny covered part on the same cement as outside, no bed, nothing to lie on.  They were all very nervous, but soon exploded with joy once they were in the car.  Luckily I had taken the key out as they would have locked me out jumping about and pressing on the locks by the windows.  Once they were home I soon noticed under all that hair that Peach was a boy.

Attitudes have to change here.  These mairies have to realise that, even if it takes time, other solutions can be found and that there is now a rescue network that they don't even know about.  Peach is a little gem, not an object to be shut away and disposed of when nobody wants it.

So pearls for all the dogs.   [:)]

Little Peach is getting prettier and prettier and smilier and smilier.  I hope he soon finds a special home, as well as lovely Amy one of the two found with Peach.

Amy is now spayed, tattooed and vaccinated.  The vet has put her date of birth as being March 2007.  She's a really gentle little thing.
