Have you uploaded them to photobucket.com or similar?

Then what you need to do is get the url of the photo you have uploaded and enter it as follows:

[.img]http....[./img] but remove the dots after the square brackets (I had to put the dots in to make it display properly).

Use a browser like firefox or internet explorer as it doesn't work when using a browser like opera.

If you needed to put the dots in to display properly why are you saying remove the dots?

I have now entered both with and without dots, we will see what happens

Thanks for your input

The square brackets contain the code which tells your browser what to display.  The code IMG tells it to display the image in the following URL. The code /IMG marks the end of the instruction.  Richard added a dot before each code in order to disable them so that his example could be just displayed as a line of text.  By removing the dots, the code is restored and the picture displayed.

Hello Sunday Driver

Understand now what Richard was explaining, thanks

But still confused, why you might ask......well you have changed part of the code, I copied it from the "Photobucket" site and pasted it on to here when I looked at preview it was still all OK then I posted and it changed, and no picture, if I remove the dots from the posting above the begining and the ending will change when posted, now I must be missing something please be kind to me and explain what I am doing wrong, thank you.

Oh Richard if only that was so, afraid Sunday Driver changed some of the code, hence the picture.

I am trying again to upload a picture.

the above code reads as below, I have add dots so it reads as text.

whether it posts a picture or not we will see when I post this post?

(edit)

Well, no picture and as you can see the code has changed, this is my problem, Sunday Driver I don't know what you changed to get the picture to show, would love to know though.

Thanks to all for being patient.

So just to be sure...

you are copying and pasting the line of code that starts [.img] without the dot.

When you then post this gets converted to the line starting

<img src

Is that right?  If so I've no idea other than some bug in IE8 or perhaps this forums software.

I realise I am not Russethouse (and could never presume to be..) however - the ball and chain  is the second from the right in the row of icons under the heading "message" when you are replying to a message or posting.  It is on this forum, not photobucket.  Hope I've explained that well enough to enable you to find it!
