Fitzsie
We are taking our motorhome which is 18months old to France with us. We need to decide whether to re register the van or return it to the UK and sell it. Hearing all the problems that other people have gone though registering their own cars we were wondering whether anyone has managed to register a motorhome with the French authorities? Chas
All our information before we moved was that it was not possible to register a UK motorhome in France - mainly because the "caravan" door was on the wrong side. We sold before we moved and have subsequently bought a replacement over here. However a couple of years ago, in the old forum, someone managed to register with no problems. Perhaps they will pick up on your post and give more info. It is certainly worth checking at your local prefecture before selling.
Val_2
Local friends bought one in from Germany and had a very long winded time getting it through the Mines. Several items had to be changed to conform with french requisites, but with a motorhome it is easier than a caravan because there is only a rear door and not a wrong side opening one in the case of the UK caravan. I would enquire first with the authorities to see if they will take it on although you may find driving in France much easier and safer with a left hand drive.
