Who can drive my car?

I have heard that in France it is the car that is insured, not the driver. If friends visit me from rhe UK, can they drive my car, or do I have to make some special arrangement with the insurance company?

 The only one who can answer this is you by reading your insurance policy, it matters not what other's policies say or cover.

On some French policies the cars are insured but not for just any driver, age limits are applied and there are changes to the excess if young or inexperienced drivers use the car.  On other policies its the car and you have to name drivers.

We're with AXA and are fully comp. Any person can drive our car. If they are on the A thingy, there's an €800 excess. If they are normal drivers, the excess is €250 or thereabouts. What your policy says, I don't know.

I agree with Ron, I phoned our insurance company & because we are on a special over 50's policy, although we are fully comp, no-one else is covered.
