Fuel en route

Most of us fill up the car tank at a supermarket where we're confident that the price is competitive, but that's not always convenient when driving a distance.
A tip given to me by a French trucker a few years ago was to look out for Elf stations with a blue angled oval sign as these stations always match the local lowest price.
There's one on a dual carriageway near us and the fuel is always considerably cheaper than at the Shell station on the opposite carriageway.

Most SatNavs either have or can host a POI (Point Of Interest) database of petrol stations and other facilities so just look for a Carrefour or Leclerc. On the motorways it's nearly always possible to find one without venturing more than a handful of km out of your way [;-)]
