caroline
I am about to lose my job in France, and have only elementary French. Although I have tried to find some seasonal work, anything considered I am finding that my lack of fluency is a big barrier. I once heard that under European law, I am entitled to french lessons in order to be able to work here in France. I have worked more than six months consecutively. Does anyone know anything about this, or have some experience of this please ?Many thanks for all replies !

Albert the InfoGipsy
I get the impression that it might be a bit patchy, depending on you departement. In some, at least, the lessons are provided by GRETA. As Andy says, your ANPE should have information.

Cerise
Are you currently working with a CDI? If so, if you are being made redundant you will be entitled to some training under the terms of your redundancy. You should be offered a CRP (contrat de reclassement personelle) and the Pole Emploi should appoint someone to help you. If you are being made redundant and you haven't been informed about this contact the local Inspection de Travail who will inform you of your rights.
