Artois Posted April 29, 2008 Share Posted April 29, 2008 Can anyone advice where Ikea have failed us?How do we fit a corner unit into a corner wider than 90°. This is currently leaving a gap of 1cm at the front between the corner unit and neighbouring one.Should we try to modify the unit somehow or fit a disguise over the gap at the front?Any suggestions gratefully received as I have waited 8 years for this kitchen and my patience is wearing thin. thunderhorse Posted April 29, 2008 Share Posted April 29, 2008 We have just had the same problem - both corners approaching 95 deg. Typical! Resolution was simply by centring the units so that the other units ran off along the walls with a slightly widening gap (between unit and wall), and cutting the beech worktops to suit (suggest you get 65 cm tops to allow a bit of cutting here and there.)If you take your time before locking everything together and screwing down the worktops, it won't be at all obvious. Unfortunately we have laminate work tops.We did decide to take the risk and butcher the units and fortunately the operation went well with no damage or splitting and happily we now have a perfect fit.We now have more time wasting ahead to find the correct fitting to connect a 12mm copper pipe to a flexible gas pipe. Gastines Posted April 30, 2008 Share Posted April 30, 2008 Quite often the problem with corner units not lining up to both adjacent units is because the corner of the building is slightly out of square. As suggested, scribe in a matching faced piece or fit units tight and scribe in worktops to fit.650mm are always a good bet if putting in washing machines/diswashers etc.Regards.
