Still a way to go before it is habitable ... we've added water/electricity/fosse septique/new roof - timber and slates/chimneys/new windows/extension - must be mad!!!  Looking forward to adding the window boxes of geraniums next spring to cheer it up ... not been lived in for well over 40 years.

Thanks Woolyb.  Jealous that you can actually live in your house!

That wall to the right is the extension added to the back so as to be not too obvious from the front!  Needed downstairs loo, kitchen, staircase, upstairs bathroom and ensuite bedroom adding to the original 2 up 2 down building.

TGIF!  Enjoy your weekend ...

Here is our place - firstly on the day we first saw her and second as she stands now.

Most of the work is inside and you can't see it of course including a complete re-wire, chauffage, her first kitchen and salle de bain, the first set of stairs instead of a 12 foot ladder, a fosse septique, new floors......the list goes on in the true spirit of a money pit!   What the heck, we love her!   (I hope this works - not very good on computers!)

LOL That reminds me of our place when we moved in. We used a ladder to get up and down stairs for 18 months before I got round to fitting the staircase. What is it about Brits that they can stand so much discomfort? Our French friends of the time thought we were barking mad!

Yes our neighbours thought we were barmy buying the local wreck, but then same family have been building their chalet bungalow for seven years and counting - the long-sufferring wife reckons by the time all the children have left home it might be finished!

Thats the thing.  We raised four kids in a little 3 bed semi here and will have a huge 3 or 4 bed place in France with just the one son.   I guess it works that way.

Our house got her stairs last christmas when hubby broke through releasing a million dead spiders and ancient corn husks, thus began the conversion upstairs..... and the worst jobs are to come. EEkk!   And the ladder was in the barn-end of the house which meant you had to go up through there in order to reach upstairs - it wasn't even in the house at the time - but its all boarded out now and sealed off so its more like a house should be.   Still a lot to be done though.

Unfortunately - perhaps it's me - I cannot see your photos Framboise, though I am sure they are super.
