Adhesive for Faux stone panels

We are going to buy some plaquettes from the Brico to make a bit of a feature around our woodburner. The plaquettes are made of stone and are quite heavy, although they only measure about 40 x 50 cms. Can anyone advise on the type of adhesive we need. We initially assumed we would need something such as wall tile adhesive but we have now been given conflicting advice at 2 separate Bricos - one says the ready mixed adhesive in a tub is fine the other says a cement based adhesive is the only one to use in powder form. One is obviously considerably more than the other. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

As it would seem to be the first time you have done this I think we may well be able to give better advice based on the actual product you intend to use. Therefore a website link would help a lot, also what the surface is you are going to stick them on (plaster, brick etc). That way we can better tell what type of 'glue' you need, what size spacers may be required (if at all) and what you need to grout them if you need to.

No, definitely not done it before! Going onto plastered plasterboard. They are on sale in BricoDepot - they are all the same type of product (beton) just different face finishes. Sorry don't know how to add a link! From what we've seen in the shop they are ready pointed/grouted and do not require spacers. The panels/tiles just slot together.
