  1. Theo, a wurd ov warnin, Norman is one of the 'in crowd' on this site, his word is final. Apologise or be treated like a leper.
  2. Andy Pandy and Looby Loo will be in the Rochechouart / St Junien area next week and Looby Loo is taking her super expensive sewing machine. She would like to buy bits of material, I believe the technical term is 'fat quarters' ? Does anyone know of any good and preferably cheap material shops in this area ? Limoges perhaps ?
  3. I see the sanctimonious police are out and about again. Just to put my penniesworth in, speed in itself is not dangerous, it depends on the circumstances and as we don't know those, its perhaps not appropriate to criticise.
  4. If you like honey and want something quick and easy try this. Mix equal quantities of whole grain mustard and honey. Cut chicken breasts into strips and coat well with the mixture. When ready, cook the chicken on a hot griddle for a few minutes each side. Dress some rocket or leaves of your choice with oil, balsamic, s&p . Put a pile of leaves on the plate and pile some chicken on top. Crumble some goats cheese over the chicken. Roast some pine nuts in a dry fry pan and sprinkle over. Drizzle some honey around the plate. I serve with some cold griddled veg (peppers, courgettes etc in garlic & oregano) and some bread. Or you could serve with potato salad ?
  5. And sometimes the two are not the same, legally and morally I mean. Looking at a lot of the posts on this website it's struck me how detached a lot of the people who post on here are from the real nasty world. For instance there was a lady on here a few days ago who had toothache and a number of people made a bit of a fuss etc etc, well, while I know that toothache is not pleasant I couldn't help but think how insignificant the post was when right then there would be kids being abused, women raped, innocent people being bombed or gunned down, starving babies giving their last breath etc etc and I thought how lucky this woman was to have toothache. So can you honestly say you have never done anything illegal ? Ever broke the speed limit ? Well have you ? Course you have so " Some of us choose to just have what we are legally and morally entitled to and to cut our coat according to the cost." doesn't really cut it. And I bet somebody who posts on this site has hit his wife, or raped a girl, or avoided paying some tax, or fiddled an expense claim or whatever.
  6. Andyh4 " Because Scooby, the legal system is not a pick-n-mix selection where you take the bits you like and reject the rest." But for a lot of people its just that. Wherever you draw the line, whether you're a scrote on the dole or a cabinet minister or md of a bank. Everybody picks and chooses. It's just a matter of which bits to pick. Gardian I do have a reputation for winding people up, sorry.
  7. Well I've come to the conclusion Andyh4 and Gardian that you are not being as helpful as you could be. Thats your choice and I respect that and your right to voice your opinions and I will not insult you, that would be childish. Like my subject header said, it is only a hypothetical question. I shall probably rent in France for two years then return to the UK where I shall arrive destitute and obtain social housing in the orkneys, it's lovely up there. There won't be any work there but with honest people like you paying for my upkeep, that won't be a problem. Maybe when I'm settled I'll drop you an email.
  8. Thats right Patf. This 'scam' was actually suggested to me by a chemist over here in the uk and confirmed by a couple of doctors who have many patients mainly living abroad. I'm just looking at ways to be able to afford to live in France. We may move this year, in two years or worst still in five years, depends on all sorts of things but I can't see a situation where I will be able to afford £300 for joint health care with my wife. Maybe we could rent for two years covered by an e106 then rent back in the uk until we qualify for a new 106 ???? Anyway thanks for the comments, the first few just wanted to jump down my throat.
  9. Andyh4 "Puts them on the same level as low lifes whi claim dole while working cash in hand." Why's that then ? Worked all my life. Paid lots in tax. Would still be paying tax. Britain is FULL of people living abroad most of the time, getting benefits from the UK, getting health care in the uk, owning businesses in the UK and falsely claiming housing benefit etc etc
  10. If a couple aged 55 & 56 sell their home in the uk, change their address at the doctors to a relatives address in the uk, buy a house in France(that is a holiday home), have a european health insurance card, what's the problem ?

    PHI costs

As I suspected, much too expensive. Plan B it is then.

    PHI costs

Thanks for that but if anyone can tell me what they pay at the moment that would be great.

My wife and I plan to move to France late in 2011, we will live off my private pension and neither of us will have reached state retirement age. So at some point we will need to buy full health insurance. What i'd like to know is what kind of figures are we talking about. I could get a quote but i'd like to find out first what people are actually paying.
