  1.  If this is going to be a second home were you going to manage it yourselves? There may be times when you want to think about how large a plot of land you have and how much work it takes to keep it clean, tidy and in order. Good luck.
  2. Cassie Well if St Gildas des Bois was too far for you it wouldn't be something you could work on.
  3. Hi Howard I've just tried to mail you privately and had the mail bounce. I hope your journey back goes smoothly tomorrow. We may well have a few joint contacts in town. Perhaps when you are settled back here we could meet for a coffee. If you let me know when you are around I'll ring and set something up. Regards Mike  email [email protected]
  4. I'm guessing  you have resolved this now! Sorry I missed it before. I've used teh Roady in LRB a couple of times and I am there for work a couple of times a week. If you needed anything another time let me know. Regards Mike
  5. If you are still looking and the distance is something you can work on I know of someone who has a mini pelle and trailer in St Gildas des Bois (44). Regards Mike
  6. You are all talking about the south. What about the Atalantic coast. I'm in the Loire Atlantique. As well as being close to Les Sables D'Olonne we have Le Pouliguen, Redon & La Roche Bernard, just to outline your options.
  7. Why go that far south. Try the Loire Atlantique, loads to do, Nantes airport for scheduled flights and only about 2 hours from St Malo for a ferry port fall back. We have had a great summer all along the coast.
  8. Have you thoguht about property management? with the right skills you could find a lcoation that gives you access to those with second homes that need management and then think about your ability to do this for a living. http://www.lbvfranchise.com/
  9. Chessie Oh yes that would happen, I use ROBOFORM to hold my passwords, partly because there are so many now, but also as it passwords protects as well. It's a free download.
  10. Well you learn something every day, I didn't realise you could solar heat water to boiling.
  11. I just thought that it would kill most things, but that it may prove to be as expensive as weedkiller given the cost of heating the water. I'm also guessing that its covered by any water use restrictions that may come into force at various times, still that is not a problem this summer!
  12. /the other possibility is that your local pc storage was full, if you are keeping a long history of pages visited, or you had been using hte web for something intensive. Try shortening the period fo the number of days you keep your history.
  13. I'd rather not use weedkiller as I prefer to avoid the poison issue as well. Instead, covering the ground is one option, weeding (which I can do as I live here) another. However, the recommendation in my Mairie is boiling water. I haven't tried it, has ony one else?
  14. Sorry all, what happened to the original question? Are you stull buying, did you make an offer, was it considered?
  15. I Given the rains and storms it might just be water that entered else where exiting. Yo may have similar vents elsewhere on the building where the water might enter and this is just the outflow.
  16. Could you work out your plans and just visit the urbanisme dept in your Mairie, they will know whether you need a permis for the work.
  17. Personally the only aspect of digital that I find disappointing is how they handle mist and fog. I suspect its to do with resolution, but theres something missing in the reproductin for me. What I really mean b all this twitter is that if you can't find any other way to chose between two cameras I think its a good test to try both on your most difficult challenge and really pore over the outcomes critically.
  18. I'm north of you in the Loire Atlantique. Round here you can get them in the Gamm Vert, Jardiland, Villa Verde. The other thing to consider is mulching and or the little terracotta balls they use on the ground surface here to reduce evaporation.
  19. In additon to the above I think that there may be two other things to consider. This is likely to be considerd a metier, controlled by the Chambre des Metiers who may be interested in what qualifications you have. Your business registration and insurances will have to allow you to work at heights, which I am sure will affect the costs involved.
  20. If you intend to be an 'independat' you should register with the RSI, if you are going to work for someone who directly employs you then its CPAM. In your situaiton I think independant is more likely as its less trouble for the fruit growers. Take a book to read, whatever documents you have and be prepared to wait.
  21. What about the European Union/Community agencies. I worked in the UK Patent Office for years and the European offices would advertise for jobs and require language skills. If you are still local to Strasbourg there must be some way to find out what the opportunities are.
