1. I noticed that too! Very misleading. We had ours delivered to a UK address then posted over to us.
2. Just wondering whether anyone knows whether ExpressVPN will work with the dreaded Orange Livebox?
3. A bit late to this discussion, but we have an Amazon Fire stick that works perfectly with a smart DNS unblocker - Unlocator.com
4. Thank you for the links and suggestions. We will hopefully make some progress in the coming week.
5. Desperately trying to find some activities suitable for a young wheelchair user to get him out and about. Deux Sevres area, ideally within the Niort - Poitiers - Parthenay triangle. Many thanks
6. Having done a fair bit of research on boxes recently, I would say that the prices on CDiscount.com or even eBay are hard to beat.
7. Making an unexpected trip to Angouleme tomorrow (Friday) and was wondering if anyone knew a nice place to recommend for lunch? Many thanks
8. Our connection speed has just been uprated from 2 mbps to 8 mbps and it has made a tremendous improvement generally. I wouldn't say that this particular forum is slow to load.
9. We have two dishes, one pointing at Astra 28.2E for UK and the other at Fransat 5°W for French reception. Beware of the need for a dedicated box and access card for the French rubbish. It could be that your dishes were installed before multi-terminal LNBs were available and both pointed at the same satellite, so that more than one tv could receive a signal. The French are miles behind when it comes to this type of technology.
10. We have always used INVERTO Black Pro LNBs. You can get them with 2, 4 or 8 terminals, depending on how many feeds you need. Nice quality, reliable and not too expensive. Just do a Google!
11. Two things that have been driving me potty! We have just swapped from terrestrial reception to satellite for French tv, by using the newish HD FTA boxes we already have. I now understand that it is necessary to have either a TNT decoder & card or similar from Fransat to get everything from a single satellite, Having opted for 5°W, I thought I needed a Fransat CAM & card for my Technomate 5402HD CI. Problem is Fransat have gone to to CI+, which apparently doesn't work in my box, which is just over 12 months old. Does anyone know whether it is possible to get hold of an older CI CAM & card? Will they still work, as the cards are issued with no expiry? Also, does anyone know whether a Fransat CI+ card will work with the CAM supplied with my Samsung 6 series UE48H6400 smart tv? The tv spec says it is CI+, but I don't know whether there is a level of "Fransat" encryption that might scupper that. In conjunction with that tv, I propose to use a basic Strong HD box SRT 7004, which doesn't have a card slot of its own. Thanks
12. I don't think it's just the French forums. I follow a couple of football forums as well and interest has dropped off markedly over the past 12 months.
13. We will be completing P85's to confirm our permanent move from the UK to France wef 06/04/2016. Can't see the answer to this quickly, but can someone tell me on what date will our first French tax returns be due and what period will they cover? Many thanks
14. It was the certifcat de situation that I wasn't sure about, but that has now been clarified, thank you. I will speak to the dealership on Monday. We have bought cars from them before, so I don't envisage any great problem sorting the missing paperwork.
15. Ah, just found this earlier thread, which I think answers my question.... http://services.completefrance.com/forums/completefrance-forums/cs/forums/3247064/ShowPost.aspx
16. My daughter has bought a French registered car from a dealer in the UK. Now looking to register it her name, but although we have the sales invoice, I thought we might be missing a couple of transfer documents. The car is still registered in the name of its previous French owner and the carte grise hasn't been endorsed "vendu", as I would have expected. Not able to get hold of the dealer over Christmas period, but in the meantime I have found a form titled as above which tells us.... Situation administrative du véhicule - La situation administrative du véhicule ne fait apparaitre aucune particularitié: absence de gage et d'opposition. Can somebody clarify what this form is please and whether it is relevant? Many thanks
17.
A lot of money I know, but may be worth keeping both. I think about an hour of TV per gb on satellite!
Just done a little research and standard definition TV is 0.7 - 1.0 gb per hour, but HD gobbles up 3 gb, so at least 4.5 gb for a live footy game........
18. Download limits a major consideration for sure and I am struggling to work out what we might need. I must admit to being a football junkie and like to watch the odd streamed game on a Saturday afternoon in the winter, as well as the packaged highlights etc which are available on most clubs' websites. The "Player" system adopted by English league clubs has been upgraded to HD this season and the video will no longer run on our pathetic Orange connection.
19. The thunderstorms and heavy rain of the past couple of days have just about seen off our Orange broadband service. Supposedly "up to 2 mbps", it runs, at best,at 0.4 mbps and often not at all. It appears that the only viable alternative is a satellite system and I was wondering if anyone had experience of these? Many thanks
20. Thanks for the response.  What you say does go a long way to explaining the rather cavalier approach to health & safety that we see in France.
21. The father of a young friend suffered an industrial accident last year and will never work again.  To me there is a clear case of negligence by the employer and significant health and safety issues involved. The chap concerned has not been offered any compensation by the employer, who paid his salary for 3 months and that was that.  The family now relies on a small monthly payout from an insurance company, which has nothing to do with the employer. For some reason, he is reluctant to take the matter further, but I believe that has much to do with not having a decent command of French and a natural shyness. Although he has been urged to see an advocat and that may or not happen, I was wondering whether there were any personal injury claim companies in France, as we see readily advertised in the UK?
22. Quite right.  There is one at Niort not that far away at all.  Thanks very much![:)]
23. Having a good clear out and have 3 flat screen monitors, a few keyboards and various other bits & pieces that we no longer use.  Everything is in good working order. I was wondering whether it is possible to re-cycle such things in France.  Back in the UK, there was usually a local organisation that would take unwanted computer bits and send them off to where they could still be used.  Anyone know of something similar in Poitou Charentes?
