1. Has anyone ever take their bike to the airport? Do some airports have lockers for helmuts etc.? Well if not maybe they should think about that one; specially for domestic flights as 1 nighters. Maybe there's a cargo plane that takes your bike and all. How cool would that be. Maybe I should speak to O leary. I wouldn't mind waiting in a que if I was on my bike. We could all filter into the plane.
2. Hi I am abroad at the moment working. I had a lovely starter dish with, Sliced tomato with a creamy cheesey sauce and lots of garlic and chives. She didn't know what the cheese was called or what it was called in english. Does anyone know a similar recipe or what its called?
3. Is it my imagination or is Mobile phone tarifs more expensive here than the UK or Eire. I've been searching for a forfait bloqué for my Wife. She's a texter and texts back to Ireland a lot. While we can get free texts I asume that is for domestic texts only. They never tell you what an international text or a call per minute costs. What is the best company to go with for a Text-pat.
4. A guided tour in Museum d'Orsay is very good. I know nothing about art but I was amazed as the guide explained. I thought it was a lot better than the Lourve I suppose because everyone wants to see the Mona lisa when they go there.
5. Row Row the Rattling bog is great fun. http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/r004.html As the song goes on the choras gets faster.
6. Don't worry about that. just cut off the 3rd pin, or drill an extra hole in the plug, Lol

Cadre

Has anyone noticed how high and mighty French people can be in a work situation. Where I work we have a team of 8 people some cadre some not that includes me. At lunch the boss will invite everyone in the room openly and when there's one or two non cadre people ignore them completely leaving an awkard silence. Its not a nice feeling when your the only non cadre in the room. I don't understand how there can be such a difference in levels and pay when some of these people are actually quiet thick and I mean thick. I guess its a French thing as we don't have such differences where I've worked in the past. Not angry just curious
8. I've been living in France for almost 3 years now I can speak fairly well and understand a lot also. When I say I speak fairly well thats my opinion I'm rarely stuck completely is a situation. I have done my permis moto in france, gotten a mortage etc, probably through shear determination at times. What I would like to know is how do you go about getting your level tested offically? Can anyone recommend is there any good online courses I can work on my writen French. I have tried the centre sociale for lessons but I have to travel with my job from time to time and also most of the courses are on during the day.
9. Are you all gone soft??? Have you ever tried to make a complaint to Ryanair I think its £2 a minute and your on hold for 15min and then no satisfaction. The reason those claims can't proven is because,  you can't complain without it costing about £20 or of course you can fax but who has access to faxes on a daily basis hmm I suppose all those people who have electron Visas (minority of travelers). Why is it so popular? They have a monoply especially in Ireland, who else you going to use? My biggest issue is when we fly from Dublin to Pau via Stansted - If they cancel or change your arrival time - they offer a refund option but only for one leg only. Then theres visa card charges I booked a flight for some of my family to visit, I booked 3 people at once and got charged 3 times 10euro for using a visa card once. Then theres the staff talk about grumpy. So in conclusion Ryanair is Cattle Class Travel!!  They don't give a F*@k about you. But MOL should be given his live interview to have his say, but @ £500 a minute we'll see him sweat then.LOL
10. Rubbish , M O'L hopes that will you will buy lots of things, preferably large and/or very heavy, in the airport shops. People like you help keep prices down for those of us prepared to accept his rules That adds up M o'L the Dictator and why not with support like that. Good luck
11. Its not too bad I have enough time for a few pints and to sleep it off after, I enjoy the ferry. The problem is the jan 2010 rate are not available yet.
12. This year I and my good wife will be driving home for xmas. To Ireland I might add so the first leg is booked with Irish ferries 150 one way with cabins. The problem is on the way home I got to use the land bridge through England Because that ferry dry docks till 20th Jan.. So I'm looking at Rosslare - Fishguard and Dover - Calais leaving Dec31st. Question being do I have to travel as far as Dover to get the next ferry or could I try somewhere else?
13. Well It got me too when I arrived and I'm still not quiet sure. I would just have a bowl of cereal in the morning, followed by lunch out - starter - mains- desert- 1/4 wine - coffee, all for 10euros how could you say no. The problem was my wife who was at home was cooking the usual big dinner after work 9Just like back in Ire.) probably with more wine. I'm not joking when I say within 8mts I put on 12Kgs lol. But I am amazed at what the french can eat dinner at 9pm is fairly normal with my french friends.
14. They can refuse to pay out if you Alcohol in your system, I presume its if your over the limit.
15.
Excellent advice and knowledge as usual from SD. It is our daughters 16 th this weekend and we are struggling for a prezzie. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how much driving lessons cost ?  I did my lessons in 1978/79 and cost 7 pounds per hour[:$]
I got lessons here for a motorbike and for 20hrs without doing the "code de la route" was 750euro but this included everything from adminstration to test costs. Mind you I struggled with the lang. a bit and ended up doing 30-35 hrs and that cost another 350euro. I think you will find that car lessons are around the same with the code de la route it should cost between 1200 and 1500 euro which can be paid in stages. hope that gives you an idea.
16. I take it that all you vegetarians have considered that no matter how cruel you think it is, its the reason were are all here today our ancestors couldn't pop down to the local Carrefour for a piece of meat for the Sunday roast. Which brings me to my second point - A wild animal has by far a better life than a caged up PIG or CHICKEN or any animal reared solely for its meat. So think about that the next time your in the supermarket. I say fair play to them, because I believe their skills will be need again someday maybe not today maybe not tomorrow... Not trying to be overly negative here but with climate change asteroids and war its not beyond reason our cushy lifestyle could become more primitive, then we'll be glad they kept our ancient skills.
17.
Available until midnight Thursday, £5 including all taxes, from that Irishman. Jo
Feck that Irishman He caught me for oversized hand luggage at the boarding gate in Dublin 30euro because you must be able to fit in everything Including your duty free shopping in one bag. So Ryanair doesn't want anybody shopping at the airport now! What a little feckin Dictator!!!
18. FYI you don't have to change your licence unless you get penalty points in france from what I hear.
19. I did my motorbike test in france but as I had a full driving licence that was less then 5 yrs old I didn't need to do the code de la route. However I did buy a CD pack (20euro) in french. It contains visual exams like the test itself and you choose a,b,c,d. With practice even in french you will remember the answers. Thats all you can do really unless you download the new google toolbar with the transulate option and go to a web page like below. http://www.code-route-facile.com/test.php?
20. Yeah ya have to blow off a little sometimes. Its in the garage and as it turns out now and I was completely wrong, all they have to do is change the battery, alternator, regulator, and if that doesn't work maybe the engine and gear box. But hey I'm over it now and I'm slowly crawling out of the merde. It could have been worse and nobody got pregnant.....YET
21. I brought my car to a Speedy garage to replace my 2 front tyres. My wife collected the car and brought it home later that night I used it again and I didn't notice anything wrong. The next day my wife said she couldn't start the car and the battery light was on I said the usual thing us men say "probably something simple" So I got a jump start from a friend and took the car for a drive to recharge the battery but all the time the battery light stayed on and as soon as I stopped the car it would not even turn the engine. After consulting my Haynes manual it suggested the belt for the alternator was slipping or loose wiring, so I checked the wiring and it looked good so my conclusion was the belt was slipping. Naturally I called the garage to suggest possibility they hit the alternator pulley when they were tracking the wheels. The response I got was the "we never touch anything on the engine and it must be a coincidence" nothing more. Do these people not even care if they lose customer through coincidences after all were in a feckin recession!!!!
22. I think I'll go for the soft lugage option it sounds like it would suit me better. Also with a tail pack can you still carry a passanger or are you restricted as you wouldn't have the bracket on the back to attach your top case.
23. Anyone have experience with panniers as in, which brand to go for? I would like do travel around camping etc but don't want to carry them around day to day. I saw the canvas saddle bags but I imagine someone could do a legger with your stuff fairly easily.
24. If they had a fat tax they would ultimately lose money, as nobody would buy their 6euro sandwiches (don't quote me on that please!)
