I know we have been through this, but what you do not understand is that I have been to the Mairie with the form duly filled in, but she gave it back to me saying they cant stamp it till I have got classification, so i sent my OH down, and they said the same they won't take the form and stamp it so duly gave it back to my OH! Well after the awful EDF bill I got this morning, I decided to go ahead with advertising as got to get some money in, but of course Im not so called legal as they wont stamp the flaming form!! So i'm a bit buggered there!

Am in the process of trying to find somebody to classify us, crazy wish I didn't have to bother why don't they just sign the form and leave it at that. Problem now is I need to start filling the gite up, and need to advertise, I can't wait weeks months for their decision, so naturally I don't want to lose out financially! Do I go ahead and pay money out for advertising and accept bookings, times running out to catch possible renters, if they so no then I'm stuck!

Well got my other half to go into the Mairie, but they still said no you have to get yourself classified, we will NOT stamp it until!!! Now I've got to find somebody to do this Gites de France website is rubbish i cant find anywhere to find this out! Anybody any ideas!

Hi Jay, Yes I filled that form in and gave it to the Mairie, they said that they have to send the form to the prefecture, then I will hear back to say everything will be ok. Then I got a phone call saying to go and see the Mairie which I did, and they seemed a bit confused and said I need to go to the website www.atout-france.fr as I will probably have to be classified and gave me back my form! As the site is in French I have to be in the mood to read it, I have read a bit and it doesn't seem to say if you have to pay for this so will study it more later. So I am rather fed up with the whole thing, I really don't know if it's all worthwhile, was so much easier before!

Yes, I am in a similar position wanting to know the best Tax regime. I used to run a gite here which is adjoined to my house, i used to then just declare on my tax return yearly, simple, no paperwork, no accountant so easy, but weird no paperwork to prove it all, except of course for my tax returns, but then they just believed that you would be honest. But of course now it's all changed, so I am in the dark as to what to register as, do i have to pay for registration, do i need an accountant all this I dont know, because as you say so many different versions on the net i'm totally baffled. It will be below the 32,000E threshold for the year with no doubt, i work about 10 hours a week, so somebody said i dont need to pay cotisations, i presume i would be a micro bic non professionale, but i just don't know, am going to see the mairie to find out what to do to register, if its the chamber of commerce, that surely means you need to be siret registered with cotisations etc. Gosh I wish I had a magic wand!!
