  1. Well, they did take the money on Jan 7th!
  2. Miracles will never cease! My package from British Food Direct has been marked as shipped. So, looking forward to the arrival. starless
  3. Hi sweet17 et al, Funny, my package is still marked as "not yet shipped." Even after they said it would be treated as "priority." Might write another email. starless
  4. Just received a response from British Food Direct after I sent them one of my snotty letters - thought that might do it. Strangley, my parecl was damaged on the way to their shipping department as well - what a coincidence. They are going to pack another one withing the next 2 or 3 days. In other words, we are back to where we were on January 7th. They didn't contact me until I threatened to tell everyone on this Forum that they were a shambles, so I've decided not to tell you all now! I have now given them another chance to improve their processes and get the package to us pronto. They don't seem to have offered any compensation though, just their apologies, so no money saving there. I'll keep you up to date with the next installment. Cheers, starless
  5. Anybody else having trouble with British Food Direct? Ordered something on Jan 7th, they took the money, but they've not sent the food (yet). They have not responded to emails, and they had only an answerphone during today. Am I being paranoid? starless
  6. Rumours abound, but City do have the money to buy anyone. However, I find it unlikely that any club involved in the Champions League will sell a player mid-season. Still, they would be good. Something that is true is that Valencia are 650 million euros (yes, that's right) in debt, and need at least 40 million immediately. So, look out for David Villa and/or David Silva to move. Last one I heard was that Buffon was at Eastlands yesterday for talks. That wouldn't be as much of a surprise. Also, the papers have said that Roque Santa Cruz at Blackburn is another target, but Sam Allardyce has said that City couldn't afford him (I think he's wrong there!). Happy Shopping in the sales (not) for City! [;-)]
  7. My wife got her vaccination from the pharmacist, who gave her the number of a local nurse. We phoned the nurse, and she said that the nurses wouldn't give the vaccination, and that CPAM had made a mistake in telling everyone that it could be done this way. I don't know whether this was a question of not thinking things through e.g. did the nurses not have the time, were they not insured, or were they just not consulted, I don't know. But this one certainly refused. So, my wife made a RDV at the doctor's and it was done there, just like the old days. Sounds a bit like the right hand's not knowing what the left hand is doing - just like politics!  [8-)]
  8. The last km is the worst, but in some ways it's also the best, 'cause it's the last [:)] Fantastic climb, though, and what a downhill! It was the first TdF mountain I climbed since coming to France just over 3 years ago. I thought I'd done ok at the age of 50, but my friend, who did it with me, was 62. This was 3 years ago. There was a guy up there who'd climbed it 54 times that year. Since then we've also climbed Le Tourmalet, and we've done a few of the passes in The Auvergne near Salers. I'd recommend that area to anyone for cycling. There is a stage near us again this year. The Limoges stage, on July 14th no less, is fairly near, and so I reckon we'll be there for that one, even though it is flat. I'm looking forward to the finish on Le Ventoux. Although I think they are tackling it from a different direction to the one we took.
  9. I've been finished up there meself.  Starless
  10. Hi, Please welcome a Forum novice, so I'll also apologise in advance for any formatting errors, Un-PC statements (mind you I've seen plenty of those), and any other things that I may inadvertently do in the future. There, my lawyers are happy. Anyway, to the point: Does anybody fancy joining me in bike rides around the area above? The idea is to, once or twice a week, get out and have a good ride from anywhere between 50 and 100 kms, and who knows, maybe more in the future. I enjoy a ride by myself, but it's better for enjoyment, morale, competiveness, support etc etc if you are in a group of 2 or more. And there's much more incentive to actually go out on a day that's slightly inclement if you are meeting your friends. My personal goal is to be able to compete in a few cyclosportives next year. I entered 3 last year and it was great, although the enjoyment factor far outweighed my standings in the results! If you've never entered one before, they really are superb. Yes, of course, there are the decent riders, but towards the back (from 1st hand experience) they are a very friendly bunch. Actually, they all seem very friendly. However, don't let this talk about cyclosport put you off. If you've no wish to join in cyclosport, then that's no problem. To give you an idea of my standard, as similar standard riders would be ideal, I tend to average between 22 and 28 kms/hour, depending on the terrain and my level of fitness. Consider the lower end of this range to be the most accurate at the moment due to lack of fitness! So, if you are keen to ride and maybe want to improve and get a bit fitter, then reply to this post. I live in the commune of Luchapt, and so anybody within a radius of, say, 30 kms or so would be great. Cheers, Starless (I'll get round to a signature and a picture soon)
