  1. Many thanks for the reply Chancer. I'm just looking for the simplest and least painful way of registering as a business.
  2. Since leaving full time employment, I am now a contractor and have lost medical and pension in France. I get paid gross from the USA and UK and just declare my salary each year to the impot. I want to register as a Micro-Entrepreneur. I'm an aircraft engineer performing inspection work on aircraft parts around Europe and cover Asia when required. The BIC/ BNC sounds ideal for me as I just provide a service and don't sell anything. Unfortunately I earn in excess of the € 33,200 upper limit. Is there a similar Micro-entrepreneur category where I provide a service and can exceed € 33,200 and still qualify for French pension and medical? Which is simple too.... Regards Terry Dept 86
  3. I do too Gardian. I heard something towards the end of last year that from the 1st Jan 2013 Mr Hollande would tax money transfers from abroad. Something to do with topping up the economy. Might also be something to do with the French ministers hiding their hard earned cash in overseas accounts. Hence…telling the tax man about overseas accounts. I need to go to my bank this week so I will ask and inform the group.
  4. Salute All, Have i heard correctly...that transfering money from abroad to a french bank account incurs a small tax now? T
  5. A lot have died in dept 68 due to a disease.
  6. Treat them as you would your plants. Water and feed them. Hedges are always neglected. I have a clay and stoney soil and plants/trees can take 3-4 years to get settled. Leylandii have roots near the suface and can dry out very quickly during the dry summers. In 2003 we lost a lot of hedge due to the drought. Now have laural instead. [:D] Terry
  7. Not too sure about horses, but I won the French gliding championships in 2002 at Romorantin. They were very pi##ed off with me walking off with all the silverware. They changed the handicap system the following year and i came 3rd from last and 3 frenchys were on the podium. C'est la vie. I only fly for fun anyway he he he [:P]
  8. Oh dear, i expected this. Walls in the way by about 2 degrees. Many thanks
  9. Hi Stefan, I fly in France on a UK CAA PPL. I have no problems. You will find the 'check out' straight forward enough as they are very relaxed over here. They might insist you speak French on the radio. Bon vol Terry
  10. Hi Clair, I grow a lot from seeds i collect. The trick to get them to germinate is to simulate a winter to kick them in to life. I put mine in the freezer for 3 weeks before potting them. If the seed has a hard shell, I will soak them for a day first. If it has a really hard shell, i will make a small hole in it just to let in a bit of water. Good luck Terry
  11. Hi Techies, I just bought a new sky HD box and dish. Unfortunatly l can only line up on Astra 1 due to a wall in the way[:(]. I have 80% signal and quality strength but when i try to watch Sky, after searching for channels l get 'No satellite signal is being received'[:@]. I have un-plugged and re-connected the box and still have the problem. So, my question, will my system work on Astra 1 and if so how?[I] Terry
  12. His father is British, moi, and mother French. He was born in German when i was in the military. He doesn't have dual nationality. I have asked a few times for a French ID card, but told i would have to give up my British citizenship. No way.
  13. If you want to experience bad driving, come to the Alsace (68). Safer driving around the Arc de Triomphe all day in my view. I remember years ago, the French road safety advert on the tele was telling the French to drive like the English. Again, generally speaking of course
  14. Sat Navs are not the be all and end all to not getting lost ever again. Thay are fool proof, not idiot proof (joke, don't take offence anyone). The trick i found is to always have an idea as to where you are going. As yes, mine still trys to give me the run around
  15. The French work on how many years you have been driving without causing an accident. You will need to get your UK insurance company to right this down for you and then present this to your French insurance company. Initially, to get you insured you will be charged the full un-discounted price, then when they receive the evidence for the no claims they say this will be deducted from next years premium. Just tell them you want the money now and you will get a cheque back in a few weeks. I think its around 14 years when you get the most NCB. By the way, the French only wanted the date when i was involved in an accident, not if you have to claim for the theft of a car. Our insurance bill halved when i gave them the NCB from the UK. Hope this helps
  16. I am with FT and would like to know if there is a pre-number or method to stop my phone number being displayed when i call someone. merci
  17. Thanks for the replys. I thought the Titre de Séjour might be the answer, but i cross the border to Basel (Bale) each day to work. A slight change of subject, my son (16) is British with a British passport and French ID. Will he have to relinqish the ID at some point?
  18. Hi, Has anyone decided to apply for a French ID card? I have lived and worked in France for the passed 5 years. An ID card would be easier to carry around than my British passport. Terry
  19. The velo rail is well worth a visit. You will need to be fit as it is hard work cycling up, but a pleasure to come down.  There are some nice views of the city to be had on the way. Take plenty to drink with you. Terry
