  1. I agree with Martin. We recently went to a neighbours 40th birthday party in our village hall and after a couple of glasses of wine I found that I was chatting away quite well (well better than usual), and understanding more of what was being said to me. It was definately because I was not trying too hard due to me feeling more relaxed. I think that situations like the party are the best way to learn french; also I go walking/mushroom picking with one of my neighbours and on these occassions she insists we only speak french, again excellent for learning day to day french and not classroom french which I have found has little relevance to what is actually spoken!
  2. Hi Hope you all survived the storm last night; what a cracker (and a little scary [blink] ),  Just clearing the debris that used to be trees! If you garden looks anything like mine then good luck today.
  3. Hi There is a very small campsite in Meuzac (Camping de Bouvreuils) which is not in the Correze but right on the border. Meuzac has 3 lakes one with a beach and two others on which they water ski. The campsite is not next to the lake but the lake with the beach is about 5 mins walk. I have never been onto the campsite so I can not say what facilities it has. There is another larger campsite in Lubersac (cant remember the name) which is also near to a lake. Happy camping [:D]
  4. Hi Can anyone help; we have been searching for small soaps that are individually wrapped to put out for guests but so far no luck, does anyone know where we can find them? Thanks [:)]
  5. A recent guest emailed us to say that security at Limoges confiscated a sealed tin of Confit from them.............probably wanted it for his tea [:D]
  6. Hi Does anyone know of a good B&B in central Bordeaux please?
  7. Definately a mozzie, thats just how I react, it also goes very hard/tight around the blister, and the oozing is nasty. I have been told that vineager is good to stop the itching but not so good on the blister [:'(]
  8. Hi Our guests get their croissants straight from the shop so we dont warm them but would be happy to if asked. We offer warm or cold milk for breakfast but are finding that most guests dont take milk at all in coffee. The herbal 'belle nuit' tea bags are very popular in the rooms.
  9. Thank you so much Quillan you have answered everything we need to know, you are a star [:D]
  10. Apologies if this has been asked before. We are in the process of registering our B&B and are now at the stage when they are asking us what TVA option we would like to take. The B&B/Gite is our main income, can anyone advise us please as we are struggling to find anyone who speaks good enough english to explain it all and our french is not up to understanding the complicated french involved. The options are: BIC - micro/reel simplifie/reel normal TVA - franchise en base/reel simplifie/mini-reel/reel normal We will be getting an accoutant but as customers are already booked we would like to register asap. Many thanks
  11. Hi Its the Ski Meuzac competition tomorrow, we have found how to get down to the first lake but does anyone know where the road to the second lake is please, we are finding it very embarassing ending up in peoples back gardens[:$]

  14. We have just finished renovating a house in dept 19 and we had our first clients last weekend (phew). I have found your forum invaluable over the last 9 months; it has helped us tackle building/removation works and the sometimes tedious french paper work and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone.[:D]
