Both my neighbours daughters have had the babies delivered in the UK (they live and work there) and were horified by the experience. They saw the 'wards' with more than two beds and thought it very unhealthy and were supprised at the lack of privacy. Here we go again..Visiters to the UK running down the NHS .... I listen to every language under the sun being spoken by patients in the hospitals I visit three days a week If the numbers of non UK patients keep increasing at the rate they are .they wont just be complaining of lack of a single room it WILL l be like somthing out of Mash... in the grounds ! How can a country be expected to build and staff hospitals to treat these patients in the numbers that arrive in the UK from a cross chennel country seeking work ...and dont bother to register with a doctor ! Just look at the figures over the past ten years . As far as I am concerned if they are not happy, and shocked about being in a room with others they can use the wealth the UK has provided them by way of the employment they dont get at home, Pay out and go private , and make room for somebody else
2.
The 'Common Market' is / was a great idea, I voted for that but a United States of Europe, don't think so!!!
This is what more and more people in the EU are saying... But now see as heading more towards a United States of Germany.
3. Better out of the EU ?.... Well thats what millions within the EU certainly thought when they decided to move to other countries to find workin the past 10 years or so And still do ,as there seems nothing much on the horizon within it to offer them hope of a better life Certainly if you are under 26 if their unemployment figures are anything to go by ... As for questioning if the UK will suffer or not by freeing itself from its ties with it ?. The EU seems to have a huge number of peoples within it who are more and more speaking out regretting having joined and want to see the whole sorry mess in their eyes torn down and reversed .They seem to be seeking to join political parties to achieve just that . I dont think UKIP supporters or anybody else in the UK need concern themselves much about the EU .There are enough people in other member states who want to tell Brussels and Berlin where the real power is what thay can do with the EU .
4. I have been to a UK French market this morning and noticed that their selling methods are different to what I see in my local Vendee market . Fromage stall I bought Carre Des Ducs 200 grms Tomme Pere Eugene 250 grms Ceur de Lion " Offre Gouremand " Cemembert 250 grms They were shown among many as three for five pounds and after purchase the lady staff holder offered a local extra cheese from her town for £1 .So the offer was 4 cheeses for £6 . All still within sell by date . Needless to say she had a line formed and was doing good business and they will be there tomorrow as it is a three day market and will probably do better on a Sunday The sausage stall I was pleased to see and was doing good trade also . So those of us in the UK when you see a French market visit your town its worth a visit for offers you may not see in France . .

7. It appears a new system for the issue of prescriptions is being rolled out in the UK. Yesturday we recieved a call from our pharmacy to say we will no londer need to go to the doctors for our repeat prescriptions . No more bits of paper all will be done electronically and our tablets will be delivered to the house at regular intervals ... This morning I called into my doctors and asked how does the new system give me tablets for a few months when I leave the UK . Will computor say No ! I was advised to talk to the pharmacy or look it up on line ...... Pharmacy said talk to your doctor .. There is a choice of going electronic or not .... at the moment For those who have not heard about this ...link below watch video of chemist shop woman going on holiday http://systems.hscic.gov.uk/eps/patients
8.
There should be a rule that forbids anybody who is too old to bend down and pick up the poo that their dog deposits on the ground from owning a dog.[:D] (Tin hat on and head down). Of course the owners of seeing eye dogs and the like would be exempt.
Also When it comes to social housing and there is a requirement as in this case for an old and infirm person to move to more suitable housing and wants the move . And there is a need to house a family in the home that would be made available .Should a pet prevent it from happening . ?
9. Norman wrote :I would have thought that people who own houses in France might consider that they hold a reasonable amount of Euros... Then there are those who know their kids will get the place and plan to use it themselves after they have gone And no longer bother about what its worth as they wont be selling it .
10. The UK it appears has raised its population by 5.000.000  in ten years . We all know where a lot of them have moved from to better themselves . The UK Polish ambassador said  it would be a disaster for his country if the UK pulled out of the EU .Which  raise  the question... How many people in Poland are now better off because of  the money being sent home by those who have moved to the UK  ... And getting better off by the day with the exchange rate  now it would appear .....  I imagine quite a lot .. It appears today the UK has about 700.000 job vacancies on the books....  So masses of  people living  in the EU have fallen on hard times and have looked around to find a place to go for a better life and chosen the UK  , found work, and today there are still 700.000 job vacancies .....Reports of UK growth is looking good for the future and more overseas companies are still wanting to come to the UK now , even after  grave warnings have been given by many that  doom will fall upon them if the UK leave the EU .   I think more and more  people living in the euro zone who expected a better life than they find they have today are not seeing  Brussels capable of giving it to them  ....Who knows what will happen to the Euro ?....... I do not hold a lot of them  or ....like  Mint .....I also would  be worried .
11. When stories like this emerge I can't help thinking  "What else have they got in the files they will be blowing the dust off  the nearer it gets to May  "  The Gillian Duffy  Gorden Brown tape will get another airing I expect ....
12.
Frederick I am sorry that you have missed out on the joy of non human companions - I will not say pet as I regard them as part of the family and thereby give them the same consideration as other family members. The animal rescue organisations are full of animals that some people view as disposable assets. Good on this lady she looks upon her dog as a companion and what a shame that heartless housing organisations do not recognise the value of animals to people. I would hazard a guess that this womans dog is one of the reasons she is living.
You are so wrong You do not know me I have had many dogs in my time and look after a family owned one now who thinks he has two homes. Read my earlier post ... It is not a question of a heartless home Its a question of an appartment in sheltered accomodation block where she will not have her own door to let the dog in and out which is what she wants to do .. Hoddy has hit the nail on the head . The dog will outlive her the lady knows it wants to make the move and is I think unhappy with her situation because of the dog .
13. Somebody tell Milliband his masters in the EU are working on the problem all he will have to do is fall in line when they have done the job . https://global.handelsblatt.com/edition/114/ressort/politics/article/europes-tortuous-efforts-to-tackle-tax-evasion
14.
I find the attitude of homes which dehumanize their customers by removing every ounce of dignity they have to be utterly cruel and vicious; of course they should be able to keep a pet of some sort, with provisos. The animal is probably the only decent bit of affection they can get or give as their families are often a long way away and couldn't give a hoot, in many cases.
I don't think its a question of her not being able to keep her little dog. . At the momeent she just opens her door and lets it out into her little back garden and her concern was .a communal entrance and shared grounds .
15. Today I have been in a long conversation with a lady in Southampton who lost her husband a few years ago. Her son drives 25 miles each way to see her regulaly each week after work . Living in social housing she is sleeping on her sofa has not been upstairs to her two bedrooms for ages Due to mobility problems she cant do stairs . I suggested a stair lift and she told me she could have one it had been suggested . I mentioned the possibility of sheltered accomodation being available had she considered that . I was taken back when she told be she had been offered shetlered accomodation close to her son and would love to go as she knows she is unable to manage in her house now . BUT .... she said " I cant go because I have a little dog " So she cannot move to available accomodation she really needs and a family cannot be moved into her two bedroom home and will stay living with mum and dad longer......all because of a "little dog " I like dogs but if I was in her circumstances alone and perhaps shortening my life by failing to cope where I was And longing to be near family and knew I could be .....then the dog would be off to a new home as well where it might get outdoors occasionally ! .

19. It appears  3 out of five Greek banks have asked for help after people have withdrawn their funds .  After reading what is below today ... if it happens ... what then ?  It appears 68% of the German population do not want to help Greece anymore and would be happy to see the back of them . (Bloomberg) -- As Greece’s creditors line up to oppose the country’s demand for a debt restructuring, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’s refusal to accept more bailout loans may result in a cash crunch as early as next month, two people familiar with the country’s financial position said. Unless the 15 billion-euro ($17 billion) limit on short-term borrowing set by Greece’s troika of official creditors is raised, the government may run out of cash on Feb. 25, said one of the people, who asked not to be named because the figures are confidential. Three weeks ago, international officials reckoned Greece could hang on until mid-year. With Greeks yanking their cash from banks and withholding tax payments, Tsipras would only be able to survive for a few more weeks by tapping social-security funds and withholding payments to vendors, the person said. By the end of March he may face existential choices: accepting a lifeline with conditions he has consistently rejected or abandoning the euro.

21. Gardengirl mentioned socks over shoes for people to feel safe walking on ice covered paths . I have got a pair of the rubber pull over your shoes spike gripper things to prevent falls on ice and I can say they work .. For the price is worth getting them to stay safe ..I just keep mine in the boot of the car . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Medium-Stretch-Over-Shoe-Snow-Ice-Grips-Anti-Slip-Boot-Feet-Outdoor-Winter/181642129613?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29166%26meid%3D459a9a570e5446deb15906ac1433c3da%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D271763786785

23. I hope you can all get about and do what you need to do in your snow wherever you are in France . The 2 inches of the stuff we woke up to where I am in Dorset yesterday.......... Due to ungritted roads being a sheet of ice... Ended up with school busses in accidents roads blocked and I was not able to get to a patient to pick him up and take to Salisbury hospital for an Xray. And that was only a couple of inches !!!
24. I have used these for years     http://www.lycamobile.fr/en/ They have never cut me off . I checked my account after seeing your post .. I have not made a call since last October and  my money is still there and shows an expiry date of  08/07.2024 .. You can talk to them ...you don't have to do everything on line but you may find customer service are busy and you do  not get connected instantly .
25. Not arrived where we are  yet but getting closer .....I am all for it  if it is not up and running by the time we go out....    I will have to have words . Those of us who are away for months at a time should  get together to keep an eye on each others property and the social side has to be good . I like the way they are set up and involved as a community .
