  2. Alteratively get a TOM TOM Sat Nav which is brilliant in directing you around Paris and enables you to keep your eyes firmly fixed on your back mirror for those pesky motos!!! Dale
  3. Or (and I don't like to boast) you have a spanking new car like me!!!!   Thanks for the blue tac tip - often wondered if I called into one of their bureaus on the autoroutes if they'd give me a new sticky thing?

  11. Our house is in 71 and thats where we have seen the trees! Dale
  12. How sorry all but I seemed to have misled you!! I am talking about renting out our current property in FRANCE - not the uk. So we would rent it out but at the same time still have it up for sale, so our french mortgage on it will be paid  which will enable us to take on a new mortgage for the new property we intend to make an offer on. Hope that is a bit clearer?? Sorry about that! Dale
  13. Can anyone tell us what are those long poles with trees stuck on the top of them that many people seem to have outside their houses!!?? We cant work it out! Dale
  14. This is only partly right - the only way you can be a married catholic priest is if you 'converted' to the RC church from another church where you were already an 'ordained minsiter'. The most famous example of this has been the number of former Anglican 'priests' have were recieved by the RC church following the vote to 'ordain' women as 'priests' in 1992. Even then there was and is no guarantee that these married men will be ordained catholic priests as each individual case is referred to the Vatican itself. I myself trained for the Anglican ministry but left before being ordained accordingly I am not permitted by church law to become a catholic priest (I am married with a 4 yr old and 1 on the way) but I am very satisfied in my ministry( both as prison chaplian and in the parish) as an ordained catholic Permanent Deacon.. The Permanent Diaconate is quite popular in France too! Dale
  15. We have found a new property we would like to buy in France but need to sell our existing house first. However as we need to move quite fast to be able to put in an offer for the new house the estate agent in france has said we could rent out our existing property which would then cover our mortgage payment and enable us to purchase the new house with Credit Agricoles agreement and then hope someone would buy are existing house during the rental period. Has anyone else been in such a situation? Dale
  16. Have been told that Scottish Power are owned by EDF (or the other way round!?) - if so does that mean we can pay our France electricty bill by direct debit akin to our english account with Scottish Power? Dale
  17. Oh dear thats a shame! We have a house in 71 and is about 1.5 hours from St. Etienne.  Although we often missed the cheapest fares as we always have to travel in the summer holidays it will be sad to lose the option.  We have used Lyon a few times but you are right fares even with Easy Jet are nearly always prohibitive. BA are sometimes better but again of course not during the school holidays! Have checked the trains too but again really expensive, so we now just put up with the 8-9hr drive from Calais which is ok if going for a week or more but not much good if just popping over for the weekend! Dale P.s Les Auvergnats notice you have oxon in your tag, where abouts?  we live between oxford and henley
  18. Hi we have some nasty bugs feasting away on the timbers in our roof! Does any one know of any timber sprayers in 71 (our house is near La Clayette)? Or could someone please look it up in French Yellow Pages? Many thanks Dale
  19. We signed up for ours a few years ago and therefore we don't have one that bleeps! Although this still works fine am wondering if it is easy to update? - Could we just go into one of the Mway offices and exchange it? Dale
  20. Hi - can anyone tell me if it is possible to buy a LCD TV in France and then use it in the UK?  Would like to buy a Sagem and as it is French presume it will be cheaper in France! Many thanks Dale
  21. Is it possible to be able to watch TF1 etc in the UK? I know I can watch TV5 but I find this rather boring and call me sad but I love watching all those great variety and games shows on French TV. Merci
