1. Phew.....! Firstly many, many thanks for to all who sent their offerings to help me rid my computer of the malware. It took me an age to do it - not being very technic etc. It seems that McAfee is weak in the area of identfying this particular bug. I only hope they can come up with something soon as I dont fancy doing all this again. Again, couldnt have done it with out you all.....THANK YOU !!!!!    [:$]
2. Many thanks Clair / Jane & Danny / DerekJ / Panda for all your replies with suggestions. I will be trying them all and will let you know how I get on - I feel I have a long night ahead of me and, I suspect, a good few long days to resolve this... Again, I am most grateful for your help. satnav
3. Many thanks for your help DerekJ. I will have a look at google and, with caution, have a go and see what I can make of it all. I have also found this website, doing a search on Livingfrance, www.majorgeeks.com which seems genuine, but who knows. You havnt come across them have you...before I try them ? Once again thanks for your time and I will let you know how I get on. satnav
4. Many thanks Panda and DerekJ. I have just done another scan : Files detected = 3 (could it be multplying?) Detection type: Trojan Detection name: Generic!Artemis The infection(s) (?) is/are in the c:/programmesfiles - does this mean I could have downloaded something from an e-mail? If so, and as I download very few attachements I could pinpoint it to 4 sources if this is the case. I am not able to send to quarantine or delete or repair as it says they cannt be removed. Panda - you asked if the  virus signature is up to date - sorry to ask but what would I need to look for to make sure this is the case? The anti virus software I get with the the o2 internet provider is, as far as I am aware, is updated frequently and requests at regualr intervals for me to validate the software which I guess is a form of re-registration (?) in any event it seems to make the McAfee symbol very happy on my tool bar. I also make sure I dont go on the internet without checking the health of McAfee symbol.   I am most grateful for your input - again thanks for any advice you can offer me
5. Hi I have done a search but couldnt find anything to help. I have windows XP and anti-virus softwear of McAfee which comes with the o2 internet provider I am with. I have recently done 2 scans (usual weekly health check of system) I am being told that I have a trojan that it is unable to remove/delete which apparently is in the c drive (??) (Sorry I am a novice with such things). I dont visit websites which look fishy or risky etc. but one never knows. I think this 'thing' has arrived in the past 2 or 3 weeks and I am at a loss of how to get rid of it. Normally if the scan picks up any risky junk it gives me an option of whether to remove or repair. This time it just says it is unable to remove/delete and it seems I am stuck with it. Am I (or my computer) doomed at this point? Is there any free programme that could assess my computers 'internal organs' and remove this blight for me?   Many thanks in advance for any help offered...getting  very desperate now
6. Hi, I read a good few months ago a posting of a website link where I could watch films via the web for free. I have done a search on this site but cannt find the web link. Does anyone know which link it was and if so could you let me know? Many thanks

Walnuts

Our walnut trees didnt do much this year as last year it was a bumper crop. We harvest ours around end of Sept and first week or two in October - depends on the weather  and of course our resident red squirrel. They were a bit small than last years but just as tasty. Wear gloves when you are picking from the ground as the outer brown skin can stain your hands and its takes weeks to vanish. Then dry them in a cool dry place. I have a (French) neighbour who washes his walnuts  in cler water he preferes them to look sparkling wqhen he gives them to his family. I prefere the 'ol natural approach. You will find the fresh walnuts very soft inside and with a much sweeter/delicate taste than those bought in the shops.   If you do a goolge you will find a recipe or 2 for pickled walnuts - but you use the young walnuts around spring time when their skins are still green.   Enjoy.....
8.
Try looking up ''rebooting LNB'' or something similar.  I have had this problem with the LNB freezing.  You need to go to another freq, give it a kick then return to your selected freq.  I am using southern beam in Naples.
Thanks Chezstevens, I think what I will do is take it to France when I go and try it there with the 'other' dish (which I also knows works). I can give the dish a bit of a tweak or two as its easy to reach etc and see if this makes any difference to the digibox numbers. Failing that ....I can then (with pleasure) give it a kick.
9. Many thanks for all your comments. I have left the box switched on for 48 hours just in case it needed to 'reboot (?)' itself but still no joy. The numbers for the ID and Transport stream are stil at 0000. So, as you say, I think its a duff. I have to look for another skydigibox to take to France now...off to ebay to see what they have. Again - many thanks for all your help.
10. Thanks for your response and suggestion Will. I have looked at the website and am not sure if its what I need and will read a bit more into it. I cannt get beyond the TV Guide numbered 1 - 9. When I select number 1 for the TV channels it then says 'waiting for listings' then after a few secs it says ' no signal recieved'. I do know the box has not been used for over 12 months and so I have plugged it in and left it switched on this morning just in case it needs to reboot itself etc. Again, thanks for your help.
11. I wonder if anyone can give me some help. I have done a search and read some recent postings re skybox etc. So I hope I am a little further on than I was originally: I have a Thomson skydigibox which works perfectly. However, I was given a  Panasonic Skydigibox, model TU-DSB31 which I want to take to France. I have plugged the Panasonic into the existing dish etc which I know works. However, all I get is the programme listings and then a message 'no signal recieved'. I have checked the following for the Panasonic: Signal quality : 70% Signal strength: 90% Lock indicator: OK Network ID:  0000 Transport stream 0000 - - - - I have checked my Thomson box which works fine and note that the Network ID 0002 and Transport stream  o7d4 . Do I need to get these numbers onto the Panasonic model, if so, how do I get these numbers to show? Or maybe there is something more fundamental I am missing. Many thanks in advance.
12.
Start here: http://www.francetvod.fr/
many thanks for the site Clair. Not sure if it works as get the following when I attempt to view anything ; Nous sommes affligés, la page que vous cherchez sur la France 2.fr n' ; existez davantage ou avez été déplacé We are afflicted, the page which you seek on France 2.fr n' exist more or was moved Its a Babel Fish translation...it made me smile.  Again, thanks for the response.
