1.
La Guerriere, 15KW would demand a disjoncteur somewhat larger than 45A [;-)] Is your house all electric. When you say only 15A being used how are you determining that. If your geothermal pump is taking that then you have precious little left for other devices. What is it actually rated at ?
15A is a guess. Without taking various panels off to see the actual rating, the motor is probably 3kw but I have 45A which I calculate  to be 9.9Kw, so I should have a lot more in hand. Surely if there is a fault with an appliance, it's own breaker should trip and not just the disjoncteur de branchement.
2. The last time, just the géothermie heating pump, which has it's own protection overload of 20amps and my PC, that's all. Not even 15 amps I would have thought.
3. The disjoncteur différential de branchement (direct from EDF) set at 45 amps trips off  from time to time with  only about15amps being used. The disjoncteurs in the tableau électrique do not trip. Perhaps a fault somewhere or a surge from EDF, I do not know Is this problem down to EDF , or for an independent qualified electrician? The original electrical contractor is a ‘very difficult’ person to deal with, so he will not help.
4. I just found out one problem before ordering with Isha at Dell UK. The unit will only be guaranteed in the UK and is not covered by European warranty. The quote did say collect and return to base- but this is not the case, unless one undertakes an international warranty option at £109 extra. Worth thinking about as my last laptop had to be shipped back to the UK TWICE in the first 2 weeks of ownership at my expense-not cheap when you add insurance and  return carriage costs[:$]
5. LyndaandRichard,   Thank you very much about the information Re: Isha at Dell, yes she will ship to France but now the cost is down to £20 Regards Audio
6. Yes thank you Boiling a Frog, you did say phone dell france not dell UK. but the cost of the most basic laptop is 80 Euros more here, at present times, for me, that is a lot more to pay.
7. Thank you for your replies.   I phoned Dell today, they will not deliver to France without a UK billing address. I did order from Dell some years ago, but now the rules have changed as above. You can change the Windows to English but only if you have the Vista Ultimate version (very expensive, talked about elsewhere on this forum) Pc's are definitely more expensive in France, especially if you are receiving your pension etc in £s from the UK. Regards.
8. I am trying to buy a UK spec. laptop.  As I understand, French PC's are not only more expensive, they also come with a French operating system which possibly cannot be changed to English. Dell used to ship to France but now need a UK billing address, which I expect means that the 1 year warranty collect and return from France will not apply. Does anyone know of a company that will supply to France? Toshiba, HP and Acer will not ship here. Thank you.
9. I have not used a gite before, so can you help me please?   Can a gite normally be rented for just 3 or 4 nights during October? If so what is the approximate cost? (La Rochelle area) We have a medium sized dog, are they normally accepted? Thanks.
10. I have ADSL with Orange. In my area the max speed available is 512.   I have been approached by Alice offering 512 ADSL with telephone.  are they any good and how do they compare to Orange? For the same price, as I understand, Alice offer international free telephone calls, whereas Orange only offer France national calls. For free international dialing, Orange include calls to mobiles but this package is very expensive. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.
11. It may be a good idea to ask the cost of planning permission first. I had a suprise bill of about 900€ payable over two years. This was for a new build dept. 22. Good luck.
12. EDF I have heures creuses  Can anyone please tell me how to read the meter? I have several readings and I am not sure what ones to use. Also, does the meter have to be set to obtain this cheap rate?

mail order

I am a long way from any large town, so mail order would be an easier way of shopping for me.   Can someone please advise of a good reliable and honest mail order company for electrical goods?   Some companies state that the item 'en stock' but you can wait 3or4 months for delivery.    The names I am looking at are: GrosBill.com Cdiscount.com and Mistergooddeal.   Any experiences? Thank you.
15. I have ordered a few things from the US, unfortunately the tax was calculated on the price of the goods AND the postage. This was collected by the shipper UPS or Fedex who were adamant that this was correct. Perhaps if you ask UPS they can advise of the tax payable.
