  1. Thanks for the positive comments on this subject My last post was at 20.24 on the 27/07/2009 ,By 20.50 I was on my bike and heading north some 491 miles to the tunnel . Not a bad run five hours and few odd minutes but that did not include filling up just before the tunnel. Now on the other side it was much better ,more vehicles on the road even at that time of night  and they drive on the wrong side ! Made the 132 miles to the john Radcliff hospital in 58 minutes .   “Why  the dash”   Well all you posters that have climbed   up on your all mighty box to tell me how wrong I was ,are as guilty as the cage driver who when questioned by the police  said “SORRY OFFICER I DID NOT SEE HIM”     I was lucky I got to spend the last five hours odd with a long time friend that has now left this world .     After 31 years riding motor cycles 10 of them racing at a high level and to many miles to count . I moved to France and enjoy the respect and space that the French drivers  give motor cycles , In the five years that I have been hear it has only been Brit plated cars that have pulled out on me “sorry mate I didn’t see you “ I still ride fast and enjoy it and still have a clean license and have had for 30 years!   So stand on your boxes all you wont
  2. Thanks Bugbare I need to make a quick dash and I mean a quick dash to oxfordshire on the FJR1300 I know I can do the tunnel to just north of oxford in just over 75 minutes Ish just have not done the road for 6 years so its going to be one hell of a light show !!

  8. I wouldn’t use fibreglass valley trays they do not work very well with plain tiles As your in the UK you could bring some valley tiles over with you  or just close mitre The tiles and use a Zink soakers then the Zink would not be seen  and all you would see from the ground is tiles and no big gap up the valley

  11. Glad to see that you are not selling the bike and have enjoyed being out on it. After 30 years of roofing my Knees are shot and give me content pain (that’s why the R1 had to go in 2000,riding it was just as bad as being bent up on a roof all day) The fjr is more up right so not as bad. It is funny how after the first few miles the adrenalin and concentration are the best pain killer you can get and its free. Now if I can just get back  on my feet after trapping  my sciatic nerve ,Finish the roof that i have half completed   I will be back out on the bike.   Keep popping the pain killers keep rubbing the cream and keep going out on that bike   All the best
  12. Hi Liz Is it getting a bit sticky getting the bikes in and out? Can’t help you with your request but if no joy from hear try Posting on hear http://www.totalfrance.com/france/forum/index.php you never know
  13. I hope that the sale of your bike is just to get a new one and not due to bad helth. I hate to see any one have to give it up all the best
  14. If you board your roof you do ,certainly NOT have to use battens down the roof to keep them in line . You can use them across the roof if you uses new  bottom tiles with nibs on them , But they can still and our still fixed without battens

  17. We have a Alsace Turbo 2 The fan is so good and so is the fire we have it in a room of 45m2 and have only used the fan when we first got the fire as its not needed with the fan on the hot air gets into the two bedrooms and corridor off of this room. The fire is so efficient that we have not used the central heating this winter . For the additional small cost for the fan its a must and the dust is not a problem
  18. Just get the sand paper out and bring it back to how it should Look You  will be surprised  How easy it is .Just gets a bit dusty If it has any holes or indents just use French plaster to fill them it will dry the same colour

  23. Well Bugbear   TfD wrote   Jon, I think you'll find that many people already do that - down this part of 24 we call them friends and neighbours and there's quite a healthy dining club thing going on already. We also manage to organise it all ourselves without the intervention of a business. Where in OPs fist three posts did he/she say that he/she was gong to make a business out of  or involve the business he was about to set up in the Dining club ?.   OP wrote Good morning....we have recently purchased our property in 33 not far from St Emillion...and we are interested to hear from suppliers of local produce...anyone who has a small vineyard  which our clients can visit...or if you arrange trips. We are also happy to hear from Holistic practictioners, artists who can teach their art forms and registered painters/decorators.Also teachers of French   There may be many people that would welcome some additional income that may generated from the OP new business     Tfd wrote But the point is Jon that people who have been here longer than you - no matter which department you live in - have already made those formal and informal contacts as you will after you have been here a while and they know who to phone, speak to, whos door to knock on. That Was a bitter cold replay that was not needed or was of any help .That’s something that OP already  knows .   TfD wrote   But most of what you have suggested so far about dining clubs or however you wish to describe them - and if you wish to earn money from bringing people together as you apparently do, you'll have to register that element as a business - already exists, hence my comments about neighbours etc.   Come on read the fist three posts Of the OP and then read the fourth   And maybe TfD should read the posts as they where meant Not as he thought he meant But then who am I to tell the Researcher .   The OP was just introducing him/her self Then asking if we knew of any one that may like some additional business Then finally trying A different way  to meet   people    Bugbear wrote The OP was seeking advice on his plan and received comments based on their experiences in return.   It must have been the experience of not reading a post properly sorry that one just slipped right by me[;-)]
