  1. In many cases the client gets their info from a guide which has on line facility as well as in published form. Most of the people I know who use Alistar Sawdays guide are very successful. I guesse.....you pay your money.                                                                                                                                                                     Depends if you want to be busy or moan about lack of bookings. One of my neighbours has clients from March untill October.....keeping her busy...happily busy[not full untill June....but pretty busy in May] It does depend on your emplacement. etc
  2. Who changed the title this time? A nice thought for the week-end....which I will share with you all. Went upstairs to see the builders yesterday lunchtime.Grissle, the neighbours cat was fast asleep after enjoying an early lunch. They were sat at a table with plates of food, cutlery.....and a caraf of wine......and I thought...how civerlised and how organised....that perhaps is a good reason to be here in France!
  3. Interested to discuss the guide books. Which are your favourites and why? There is one book which is almost impossible to find!I have the book but I am trying to speak to the editorial/admin team......not finding it easy. A friend of mine in UK has found it hard to buy the book. However if it was distributed and sold in the correct manner it would be good.It is called secretes and is published by Hatchette...sounds easy....but is not. The AA guide......The Michelin...?????
  4. WHEN PURCHASING THE SHEETS FOR A DOUBLE BED               When purchasing sheets....[not fitted drap] for a double sized bed...what should the measurements be?                 W
  5. We are desperately looking for the black and white lino which looks like tiles....squares Can anyone help please...we are in 33
  6. or a bicky for a builder perhaps
  7. now...you see how rules can spoil a little harmeless fun. Perhaps the moderators should come out when the bullies are active.......not when there is "poetry in motion".......after all [on this occasion]only changing my own titles. By the way the "gardener" came to see me yesterday...and we planned to work together. He enjoyed an exspresso with some langue de chat and seemed very happy  with the idea of working in the garden. He was given a tour of the house[having asked about the progress of the renervation]when he returned he gave me the thumbs up...we had a chat then he was on his way in the rain to seek refuge in front of the    T.V. The neighbours cat will soon arrive for his breakfast.....I call him "Grissle "because he is always moaning for food and he is a tabby type......
  8. Leo.....send the police! This is a Forum not a court of law . Sorry that you can not follow...meant to be light hearted. or perhaps is..turning you all away from your anrgy mode relating to hourly rates. By the way plomier.....I think that you have plenty of work and know exactly what to charge[hope so anyway]
  9. Yes everyone not easy. Not easy for those of you who earn 25 Euros an hour or for those who earn 8/9 euros an hour. However maybe more pleasant than filling the shelves in Sainsbury.... Much more is achieieved by feeding the neighbours cat yorkshire pudding[with the trimmongs]
  10. Inkflo sounds logical....and humane.
  11. whoops sorry for two entries.....off to spend Easter with friends.
  12. Some of you are very artistic at changing your script according to your desired arguement. you also not listien... I have engaged in more cleaning, wine spilling and hard physical work than most of you...and do not intend to stop...just yet. I am not skilled at gardening...so I am seeking a real gardener. Certainly not a strange bloke....and  not currently bored. You lot are strange...you say that I need to pay 200 euros a day ...so I should pay[you are not prepared to pay]  maybe because  I can afford to pay a gardener  from time to time then I  become the enemy. No this is not the land of milk and honey.......but there is much milk produced here and lots of great honey.......you have to work for it....and I will work  untill the day I am too sick to carry on. Nothing strange about that ....I call it positive and productive.

  14. Look Steve this is the the fee which the specialist of this forum seem to suggest 300 euros a day...then they pay their taxes. By the way I advertised on a forum which is specific to my area 33....very logical. Tony ...I notice loves gardening, food and wine...I trust that as he loves food so much that he may be a good cook...so therefore we may have something in common.La Poudette at Pujols is a lovely restaurant and worth travelling to.
  15. Tony...are you the spy of 33? So what if I have advertised for a gardener....At the moment I am not using one....doing it myself We all have a preference for work... Many ...lets say most of you did not come to France with catering /leisure experience and many of you hate the idea of having guests....that does not mean I feel the same! Yes I know about the spilled wine and the complications....but thats not new to me.I prefer that to accountancy,IT, or filling shelves in Tesco shepherds Bush for 6 pounds per hour. If I have to do mundane jobs....then so be it.....not a problem for me I have washed dishes from 6 pm to midnight at my restaurant when I could not get a kp. Look you are just looking for a fight........your idea of fun. There is infact nothing to fight about as I have my own ideas......and that does not put me on another planet.Have a good easter...cook  something nice...and behave yourselves.
  16. But Panda are you really not intending to be malicious? So many of you are so sure of  yourselves........do you ever question that I may be wiser than you think. I am not like any of you....I do not think, write, buy properties, cook or decorate like any of you. That does not  put me in a dark corner which lacks information about the world. I could feel the cold wind of financial doom drifting through the trees at Holland Park.....about a year ago.....when to most people thought  it was not possible. I sold ...[ at the right time]moved on[ to the right place...for me] I am creating a very special place for people to stay...when I am ready to receive clients .......then you can see the full picture...
  17. I came on the site for a chat...to look at the views of others... I have come to the conclusion that for those of you who emplo gardeners you pay something like 25/30 euros an hour. The people who have B and Bs and only take 2000 euros each year will be , surely doing their own gardening. I am learning about gardeners.....and indeed about the contributors to this website. Bed and Breakfast will be as vunerable as anything in this climate....stormy in many ways. I have researched...I always research..
  18. Looks like a large piece of string is needed. bye for now
  19. A buisness person is hard pushed to make a living on 200 euros a day! Interesting...just interesting..how much approx does B and B take in a week? In a year. Not an arguement...just a question Some of you surely must have a good idea of what is achievable.
  20. What i was trying to type...I got destracted ...was....He has no tools he is using mine.He has worked twelve hours collecting leaves odd jobs like that.No , by the way it does not matter wether someone is French, British or Italian it is a matter of what I can afford and what a worker is ready to accept.
  21. You are not listiening...the chap is not a qualified gardener and he has no tools...except mine using his tools ......and he lives close by.When I have a gardener who works a a proffessional gardener I will expect to pay him more...and I believe that he bring his tools. That will be when I start my buisness   I have run a successful buisness......stop talking down.
  22. 16 euros per hour....you lot are enough to make anyone type the wrong info. It is time for the neighbours cat you have his lunch
  23. Russet house has a very valid point....... You will probibly not be able to find your builder again! You have to be extreemly prudent with building works. Of course all the rules and regulations are best observed by a long term resident.
