  1. Did not look at that but just been to shops and what we brought was nearly double the price here in France so worth ordering on line.

    Dog food

Hi, I know its been discussed on here a lot but just wanted some recommendations for a good web site to buy dry dog food on line, our lab needs to loose weight and we want to get a quality food for her. Many thanks, John
  4. well the leclercs man arrived today and took one look at the dish up on the roof and said he would test it indoors. After a lot of sighs he said the dish did not work and when I pointed out the tv working next to him he said it was intermittent. We explained it worked ok but just wanted the other lnb that did not seem to work changed he said no,why we asked, his answer as he did not know what was wrong he could not fix it.and then left. We will try a local small shop tomorrow. Just one question that sounds stupid are all lnbs the same in other words they work anywhere in any country,as he implied ours was English and would not work in France, which is not the case but just wondered..
  5. Thanks to everyone for the replies and as always some very helpful information,I have to be honest and say I don't understand all of it but it gives me something to look at.I have the guys coming in today to sort out why one lnb is not working( dish to high for me)and once its all sorted I will look at the tv,so expect me back on here soon. Thanks all, John
  6. Thanks Quillan, The tv is a Samsung smart tv and I have a humax box but waiting for the guys to come tomorrow and sort out the lnbs as one is not working.but I brought all these in the uk so I would not have problems when connected. The apps the tv has downloaded are the french equivalents to the uk I think like France tv,les echo.fr,bfn tv and similar. It may all be ok after the sat dish is sorted out tomorrow so I will have to wait and see. John.
  7. Good morning all, I am after technical help again,I have brought a smart tv with built in free sat and free view so I can have both for when we return to the uk.I connected the tv and it straight away picked up my orange wi fi and downloaded all the french sites on there, what I want to know is how do I get English sites like the BBC and the likes.I have my lap top geared up to get the BBC so is it possible to somehow use that to get them on the tv. Second quick questions how can I send video clips of 30 seconds as when they are received most people cannot open, they are for an outside wildlife camera I have in place. Hope this all makes sense and thanks for any help, John ps. got leclercs coming out to sort out sat dish tomorrow
  8. Thanks for that and someone else over here told us 10 x but I found that a lot as in the uk its only about 4 or 5.But as you say its only worth what someone will pay.
  9. Can anyone tell me if in France they add a certain amount for goodwill when you buy a business,is it similar to the uk where there is usually a figure they multiply the turnover by. Thanks.
  10. Hello, A long shot but does anyone know an engineer in the la ferte bernard area 72 that is good we have tried locally and not had any response, all we need is someone to get up on the roof and check the lnbs for us as one seems to have stopped working.Normally I would get up on roof but the is on top o f the chimney and just too high for me. Thanks, John
  11. I am new to all this as just brought a new smart tv and humax box and after the new satellite I had no problems still got all the channels but I did do a research as lost the radio channel for some reason..My question is is it possible to receive the BBC on a smart tv and the on demand channels as it is obviously picking up from my live box and so its downloaded all the French stuff. I am still playing around with it so any advice to cut out any problems will be appreciated. Thanks, John
  12. Not sure if this is the correct place for this but just wondered why estate agents charge so much in France,we are thinking of moving and when contacted an agent their fees are up to 9%.. This makes a huge difference when you sell and it also makes you think about putting your property on higher to cover the costs,In the uk its only 1.5 to 2% agent fees.
  13. Sorry not said thanks sooner and the information has been useful and at least I now know what I have to do.First think will be to try and find someone to get up on roof and run the new cable,on the way back to France now with new tv,sat box and sound bar cannot wait to get it all going. John
  14. If you own a business ask about their professional service as they phoned me and I swapped as its a great offer and excellent service.
  15. Thanks I did suggest that there must be a coupling but he has taken the burner away to fix, when he comes back I will suggest to him.
  16. Can anyone help me with a problem as I have my French plumber here who is normally very good at most things but he cannot work out the problem with our boiler. It is a Bentone b10 fuv burner that fires up foe 3 minutes and then stops if you push reset it does the same again but no longer.. Its not the fuel as he has dome all those checks any ideas out there, Thanks, JOhn
  17. Thanks Quillan that's what I wanted to know,is that cable easy to buy and where please. Thanks
  18. Hi, What I am about to buy is a new tv that has a freeview and a freesat decoders on so I can watch freesat on my dish here in France and when we finally go back to uk I could watch freeview via an aerial..What I want to know if I also buy one of the new pvr recorders can I have one lead from the dish and then split it so as to have two feeds, this would then possibly give me the ability to watch and record at the same time. Hope this makes sense, John.
  19. I hope someone can answer this question I am about to buy a new tv and dvd recorder/player can I use one of these to allow the two feeds so I can watch one channel and record another. http://www.amazon.com/Antronix-CMC2002H-2-Way-Splitter/dp/B001E4OH1E Thanks, John
  20. Hi All, Left it in the vinegar and it seems to have cleaned it well but will also soak in lemon,,the chemical cleaner I find can make the plastic go brittle like it did to an old kettle so will stick with the natural remedies. Thanks for all the feedback,I hope you all have a great Christmas and a happy new year. John
  21. No i put it in vinegar all night and will try it later to see if its worked and if so thanks for the advice as saved a load of euros. John
  22. I am coming to that conclusion now as looked last night on the internet and managed to find what looks like the valve i need and they ranged in price from 30 to 90 euros,i can get a good quality new tap for that..Will try the local plumbing shops today if not a new tap. Thanks, John
  23. Thanks for a quick reply we found that water was coming out the top of the tap and it had run down the back and blown the wood on the cabinet. This one has 3 holes in the bottom and is plastic with a three holed washer around them,it could be just the washer gone but think it would be unlikely to get one of those. John
  24. Hi All, Got the tap valve out as advised and its a round plastic cylinder with a plastic square spigot out the top.Went to castorama and le roys today and they all say they do not stock, can anyone tell me what they are called in french so I can go searching.. Thanks, for all your help, John
  25. Thanks Guys I will go back out to the gite and have another look,I was worried it was going to be like most things now a day and that's throw it away and get a new one.It was not a cheap tap as we knew that it would get a lot of use in the gite,so thanks for the advice and its back out I go. John
