A friend has a magnificent Walnut Tree and close by there are small ones growing as well. They do not want them  all and have offrered me two of the smaller ones. When is the best time to dig them up and replant in my garden ?

On two occasions leaving England on a BF to France we have been in the security section for the car to be checked and for us to answer questions. The question that always makes me smile is " are you carry any weapons like knives, swords, guns or similar " If we were terrorists and wanted to capture the boat would we say yes to these quetions. They are always very pleasant though and always have a smile on their faces.

What a wonderful ending to a very sad tale. He is one lucky little boy and I feel so happy that he is going to have the life he deserves. He is such an endearing little chap and I know he will be greatly loved by these kind people. Well done Christine, how  lucky we are to have you.  [:D]

We have heard  that Lidl could be opening a store close to Melle in the Deux Sevres. Our French neighbours were trying to explain it to us but maybe we have got lost in translation as they talk so quickly to us. They said it would be close to the SuperU store and there is only one store that has closed down recently in that area. Has anyone heard anything  as it would be great for us as the nearest Lidl is quite a drive away.

We have bought some Rock Sulpher which we add to his water. We bought it from UK and it is especially made to help to keep them cool in hot weather.One small piece into the water and it slowly dissolves over a couple of days so just keep giving fresh water with the Tablet still in the water bowl.

At least he is safe now. I am still trying to put pressure on OH but we are popping  to UK soon for a couple of weeks  so could not do anything right now even if I could persuade him to agree.

Yes they are Porcelaine and I have noticed a little bit of scale around the rim of the toilet as well. I will try Vinegar so would it be better to dilute it or not ?

I have started to get Limescale build up on the washbasins. It does come off with normal cleaning albeit hard work so what can I buy to remove it. I have googled and some sites suggest vinegar but I am a bit concerned in case I remove the surface. I know someone will have the asnwer...[:D]

We came here from Cornwall as well. Where abouts are you in Cornwall if you don't mind me asking. I do get very homesick at times as all the kids and Grandchildren are still in England and we do spend a lot of our time going back for various family events. I am struggling with the language but OH is a lot better than me and also a lot of French people around us do speak some English, we want to practise our French but they want to talk English to us. I do love the weather here though and I was swimming again yesterday but it is wet today but the first rain we have had for months.

Hopefully bumping this little chap to the top again. How can anyone resist him....[:)]

Our Lab does not seem to be an Alpha male as when friends bring their male dogs around he just wants to play with them and it is them that bark and growl at him. I know what you mean though as two dogs together cannot always be trusted.

Having had rescue Boxers over the years we know what wonderful creatures they are, we just adore them. I am not sure having another big dog would be right for us now ( getting a bit old ). I will mention her to OH as he has a real soft spot for them. Why do you say a female would be better for us ? Do you think our Lab would not take to another man around the house ?

I would never be able to let him go if I fostered him. Our Lab was on death row and we rescued him with just a day or so to go before he would have been put down. Surely you are not saying that this little fellow is about to face that are you ?  PLEASE  someone out there give this little guy a chance, he is so cute and deserves a good and happy life.

I agree with you , Christine, I am working on OH. He is still saying no more dogs but Alf has got to me. I do  not know if I will  manage to persuade Oh but I know Alf or Alfie as I prefer to call him will evenually melt someones heart.  I wish it could be mine,,,,,men.  Arrghrrrrr.

He is adorable. What breed is he or is he allsorts. Such appealing eyes, he knows how to turn on the charm.

Wonderful news !!! All true dog lovers will be pleased for you and take no notice of negative comments as you have given hope to a lovely boy. We are always so sad when we lose a faithful friend but life goes on and your memories will always be with you. Now you have a chance to make new memories with your new faithful friend. Once again, so very pleased it is all going well for you and my namesake.  [:D]  

I have never heard of Swiss Chard so where do I buy it and what is it called in French. It does sound very versatile and some lovely recipes as well. I adore Spinach but OH is not too  keen but eats it as I shout if he doesn't.[:D]

We have our youngest son, wife and 11 month old Jack coming to see us in just over a weeks time. He is the youngest of 13 Grandchildren and we were made Great Grandparents in June, little Max entered the world and he is so lovely.  No we are not in our eighties, mid sixties but we started young.  [:D]  Once again many congratulations.

Hello again It has uploaded as I can see him quite clearly and yes he is a proud looking fellow. So sad after having him for over seven years she has to part with him, heartbreaking. Lets hope you hear from some kind person offering him a home soon.

If there is anyway you could glean more info about him like where he is and also if he has been neutered, up to date with his jabs  etc. that could help in re homing him. Is he free or does the owner want something for him, all this info could help. Also, a picture of him would also help as that could melt someones heart. I have never had a standard Poodle but have had smaller ones over the years ( rescue ) and I also found them to be lovey doags. I wish you good luck in finding him a home.
