  1. I have checked all airlines and in the end I mailed Brisol airport. The only flights to Bristol in December are from Grenoble, CDG Paris, Brezier and Toulous. I checked Roscoff to Plymouth with Britainny Ferries but no return sailings listed after 22 Decmeber so I phoned them. There are no sailings back until FEBRUARY so I will have to go Cherbourg to Poole which is the closest crossing or fly from Toulous which is over a four hour drive . Never mind, I will get back to family for Xmas one way or another.
  2. We live about 30  mins away and we go there a lot, we like it. Good Supermarches, the Patio Restaurant is good and a  Mc Donalds if you like that sort of thing ( we don't but then we are oldies ). [:D]

    small rose bush

Thank you for the link, most helpful.  I will plant it tomorrow and keep fingers and toes crossed. Thank you both for your help.
  4. I have bought a little rose bush with some shoots on it and I have been told the Rule of Thumb is if they sell it then it can be planted. As we had quite a ground frost this morning is it OK to plant it or will I loose it during the cold weather ?
  5. Hello Pads Yes, Toulouse is definatley too far for us. I don't think we have ever had flights to Exeter and it is difficult enough getting flights to Bristol.   La Rochelle stop completely in the winter months as well. It would be so handy if some of the airline companies continued their summer schedule but I suppose it is " bums on seats ". I am sure flights to Bristol would be fairly lucrative as it covers Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and Gloucester.
  6. Just wondering if there are any folk out there trying to get a flight to Bristol and back in December for Christmas. I have been looking but not having  much joy, due to the fact that I am limited to Limoges, Bordeaux or Bergerac airpots. Maybe the flights are now fully booked and it does look as though it will be a ferry crossing which I did not want as six hours to ferryports but if that is the only way, so be it. Stanstead is always available but my family are all in Plymouth.

    ear

Brief update. Woke this morning and my ear was dreadful, totally blocked and somewhat painful. I decided to see the doctor and she said that my sinuses were blocked and that both ears were blocked but one worse than the other. I have medication for the Sinus problem and I have to see someone in Niort to " extract " the wax from both ears. No mention of it being done in the surgery so I will have to put up with it until an appointment can be arranged.
  8. Brilliant news. Another lovely dog gone to a happy home.[:)]

    ear

The Pharmacist gave me A-cerumen drops and an antiseptic wash to use after the drops. This morning it seems worse but I will carry on with it and see what happens.

Thank you for that, Bernice. That sounds very positive so hopefully I can avoid having to pester the doctor.

    ear

Thank you for the replies. I will see what I can get this afternoon as we have family arriving on Saturday and I was hoping it would be cleared by then. My ear is making a whistling noise which is so annoying.

    ear

In UK there are drops which they claim avoids having ears syringed. Anything like that here as my ear is blocked and driving me crazy for the last couple of days. I am going to the Pharmacie later so would be nice to know what to ask for.
  13. I stand corrected, Sid.   My OH spoke to a lady whose tel number was in a magazine article regarding the Brass Band..
  14. All sorted now. We were able to get a copy of the bill so we can pay it. The original one was sent to the property we rented well over three years ago. The same thing happened once before and we notified them and they supposedly changed it on their system and it came to us direct last year.  So  hopefully once it is on DD we should not have this problem again.
  15. My husband has just contacted you and is totally over the moon as for three years  or more he has been trying to locate a Brass Band in our area. He will certainly be there next Wednesday.
  16. Although my OH says I am Ga Ga,  it is the Habitation tax  that we have just received. Last year our Fonciere was late but not this late so a trip to the authorities is order me thinks.  We are in the throes of setting up a DD for this as we have everything else on DD. We have been in UK for a couple of weeks and a friend has been seeing to our post box so I am hoping that she has not accidently mislaid the bill.  We will chase it up during next week even though we don't really want yet another big bill as our poor little pensions are shrinking every month.  Off to the soup kitchens !!!!!!!! [:D]
  17. We have just received our Habitation Taxes but still not had the Fonciere. I am getting concerned as I thought they were issued in September.Obviously do not want to incur any penalties for overdue account. Is it normal for that tax to be sent out this  late or should we panic and chase it up somehow ?
  18. Not sure if you are aware that there is a company who have a depot in UK and Asda and Tescos will deliver to them and they in turn bring it here to quite a few drop off points. They do charge for this, 15% of the total bill but bearing in mind they have refridgerated vans and the cost of the ferries  etc. It has to be worth it to get all the things we really do miss. Their site is www.sterlingshopping.uk.co so have a  look if you do miss certain items here. I am interested as our pensions are  paid into English banks (  no choice ) so we could save quite a bit of money avoiding the dismal echange rate at present and also the rising prices here.
  19. Oh my, how awful. I have tears in my eyes and I bet the people who did this will get off scott free. Put them in a room with decent animal loving people then we will see just how brave they are.  Surely, they cannot be allowed to do this sort of thing to defenseless dogs, I would have strangled him. No one hurts my animals, I would have gone beserk.
  20. Creme Proffessional sold in SuperU. Excellent and whips quickly, I use it for Sponges and Trifles.
  21. Phoenix are still showing Barley on their site so maybe the people who showed interest have decided against having her. Maybe  it may be worth calling them to ascertain the situation.  Just a thought.
  22. Oh my gosh, how sweet are they, picture postcard sweet. They look so gentle and loving. I am sure they will be offered a home very quickly, who could resist them.
  23. I think it is a good idea but I am too far from you to join in.
  24. Every time we go to UK I bring dishwasher tablets back with me as I have also found glasses having a film on them. I even bought the more expensive tablets here with a brand name but still not very good. Also, I find that it is only English washing powder that gets my whites to how I want them and I have tried all makes here even well known barnd names to no avail.
